East Round 2

Isles      4

CBJ       2

Game 4 was to be played in Columbus with an electric crowd trying to help the hometown Bluejackets even up their series with the visiting Islanders. Instead, both teams put everyone to sleep with an extremely boring affair that had zero resemblance of a playoff hockey game. Neither team could even manage a double-digit shot period with Columbus having a 22-21 advantage overall. This game was so bad the goalies fell asleep between shots accounting for the 6 total goals scored in the game. The players didn't play well, the goalies didn't play well, even the referees pretty much took the night off calling only 3 combined penalties. You have those games where it is a shame that someone had to lose....then you had this one that someone had to win.....uggghhhh! Isles take this one heading home looking to close it out up 3-1

Habs       3

Bruins     6

Has GM Greg and his Bruins stolen the script from GM Eric and his Blues from last year? Last season despite very good opposition and being largely outplayed, St. Louis rode T. Jarry into the ground and to the BRHL title when they clearly were outgunned in a few match-ups. We have already seen GM Greg throw the saddle on J. Saros enough in round 1 against pre-playoff cup favorite Detroit to know this team will go as far as this horse will go. As mentioned in a previous recap, this was a retool year for the Bruins with an eye to the future. They squeeked into the playoffs in the final games of the season and had a match-up that nobody in the league wanted. So what happens??? They slay the giant in Detroit to move to round 2. After 2 quick losses in Montreal maybe some of us (me) thought the Cinderella story was going to end sooner rather than later but after 4 games played in series 2 we are back to square one!. J. Saros now boasts a 6-1-2 record in these playoffs following his 32 save win this evening to lead his team back to even the series. All of that being said, the Bruins played a pretty decent game and were the much better team in the first outshooting the Habs 16-5 and taking a 3-1 early advantage. Saros was his magnificent self in the second keeping his Bruins ahead turning away 17 of 18 Canadien shots and despite the Habs cutting into the Bruins lead early in the third he wouldn't let them by. Series has a different feel heading back to Montreal tied at 2
