East Round 2

Isles      5

CBJ       3

Game 6 took place in Columbus with the hometown Jackets looking to extend the series to 7 games but it was not to be. I may have mentioned on a few occassions that certain goalies and teams are loved by the sim and Vasilevskiy is one of them! There are certainly worse goalies to love but once again for those that missed it before, if you are even in the game you are losing. The shots in this game at the end of 2 periods were 24-24....the score was 5-2 for the visiting Isles. J. Markstrom got the start for Columbus and gave up 4 goals on just 15 shots before heading to the bench. Jake Allen came on in relief and did a solid job stopping 14 of the 15 shots he faced but the one he let in came quickly after replacing Markstrom effectively ending the game and series. Isles move on taking the series 4-2

Habs       8

Bruins     3

Hmmmmm....seen this before....see above!!! Boston comes home looking to extend to 7....yada yada...starting goalie gets shelled and hooked...yada yada.....back-up plays but too little too late! Yup....see above!!! Montreal came out flying in this one and managed to get Saros out of the game which may actually be more telling a storyline then it appears. The game ended 8-3 so wtf are you talking about you may ask???? After Montreal had taken a 4-1 lead and J. Saros had exited Boston scored to cut the lead to 2....Montreal responded to extend...Boston scored again to cut it to 2....again Montreal responded but this time with 3 to end it. Had Saros not got the hook maybe he responds as his team did and maybe we see a different outcome?? Montreal was full value for this win and the series win regardless of circumstance and will advance predictably to face off with the Isles whom many in the BRHL world felt would happen! Habs win 4-2
