2024 MOCK DRAFT (Part 3)
The Rumpy Draft
21. Los Angeles Kings - It's getting really tough now at this point in the draft, although I'm sure the people who have extensively scouted the talent available still have their targets; and you can bet Rumpy is one of those. The Avs, and now, Rumpy, add CALUM RITCHIE here. The playmaking centre oozes potential and looks to be NHL-ready. Another big body for team Rumpert.
22. Anaheim Ducks - Speaking of large specimens with lots of GRIT, Dev decides to go the route of SAMUEL HONZEK at 22. His injury riddled campaign put a bit of a damper on things, but he looked great at the World Juniors, and the Flames expect the 6 foot 4 Honzek to live up to the hype with a move back to the Wing.
23. Los Angeles Kings - With some good old Canadian grit in the fold, Rumpy decides to balance things out a bit by taking the undersized college phenom, BRADLEY NADEAU, right here out of the Canes developmental system. He's got some real razzle-dazzle moments on his resume and a great shot. The Hurricanes always find good ones it seems.
24. New Jersey Devils - What will Ken do at this spot? It is anyone's guess, but I think the upside provided by DAVID EDSTROM might be the highest of any prospect still on the board. He's mature, he's consistent, and apparently the ultimate professional. All his traits both on and off the ice point to a true NHLer, with tons of skill, hockey sense, and is one of the best playmakers of the entire class.
25. Los Angeles Kings - BPA time probably for Rumpy as he doesn't want to complicate things. OLIVER MOORE didn't make a drastic leap statistically speaking this past season, but scouts still seem to love his all-round game. His skating speed is all-world, which bodes well for him adjusting at the next level. He played with many different linemates, so settling in to something more consistent should bode well for his development.
26. Los Angeles Kings - As this is Sumit's 1st, you know Rumpy wants to make it count. Just like Moore, the numbers weren't as gaudy as people had hoped, but MATTHEW WOOD and his skillset, which features quick hands (especially in close), speedy skating, and obvious strength and power, will be very appealing still at this point of the first round.
27. Los Angeles Kings - Just in case Joe, or the other Joe, had any ideas about selecting the top tendy off the board before his next wad of draft picks, Rumpy ensures that ADAM GAJAN becomes a BRHL King right here and now. He's always risen to the occasion on the big stage as he's been fantastic at the World Juniors. His quickness and agility will make him a fan favourite in Chicago and a nice story being selected by the same BRHL club as Connor Bedard is now on.
28. Vegas Golden Knights - Our second favourite Joe heads up to the podium at 28 and quickly announces that EDUARD SALE will be heading to Vegas. He took a while to acclimatize to the North American ice, but his skill and incredible 1 on 1 ability are hard to ignore. He's a very agile, shifty forward, and has always stepped up during the big moments and at international events.
29. New York Islanders - On Joe's mind here late in round 1 is to select an impact player, and preferably a defender if at all possible. The NHL Blues forwards crop of prospects is looking good, and joining them for the next dozen years or so is the one and only THEO LINDSTEIN. He's a great fit for both them and the BRHL Isles. He's strong, physical, and absolutely gifted at shutting down the opponent's top players. The next Colton Parayko is what I see him developing into.
30-32. Los Angeles Kings - With the last 3 picks of the opening round, it is the same old, same old Tyler Rumpel making more selections. Let's make it easy here and go 2 forwards and 1 defenseman. I like OTTO STENBERG, CARSON REHKOPF, and MIKHAIL GULYAYEV as his picks to close off a wild round 1.
