Revisiting Some of the Most Lopsided Trades in BRHL History – 2021 (Part 2):
Kotchekov is a top 10 goalie!!
*Note: Unfortunately, I can not track 2022 prospect selections.
To EDM: J.T. Miller, Matt Benning, Devin Shore, 1M brhl bux
To SJ: 2022 CAR 1st, 2023 EDM 1st (Samuel Savoie)
Analysis: J.T. has been one of the better sim players the last few seasons, especially when you factor in his 2-way game that translates well in the sim. Benning is a solid top 4-6D. I’m not sure who went at CAR 1st, but I doubt that player ever turns into anything close to what J.T. Miller offers.
To COL: Alexandar Georgiev
To SEA: 10M brhl bux
Analysis: Georgiev isn’t sexy, but the Stoners must’ve been real desperate to give up on a young goalie with term for some bux.
To WPG: Rasmus Andersson
To OTT: 2022 DET 4th
Analysis: Not sure what Steph was thinking here giving up on an asset with control for a dart throw pick. Andersson isn’t an elite player, but he’s solid. Way to go Steph….
To SJ: 2023 PHI 1st (Liam Ohgren), 2022 SJ 3rd
To PHI: Rasmus Ristolainen
Analysis: Time will tell if Ohgren is any good, but I can promise you Ristolainen ain’t. Sumit cashed out at the right time on Risto, and well Risto is probably rotting on someone’s farm.
To SEA: Pyotr Kotchekov, 2023 MTL 1st (Owen Beck), 2022 PHI 2nd
To MTL: Alex Nedeljkovic, 2022 OTT 4th
Analysis: As Rex would say, Kotchekov is a top 10 goalie. He was also able to steal a 1st and 2nd as part of a package to move Nedeljkovic who’s struggled to make an impact at the NHL level. Habs wish they could have this one back I’m sure.
