Oilers      3

Av's        2

What is expected to be a long and close series kicked off in Colorado with the Edmonton Oilers in town. Despite taking an early lead while shorthanded Colorado basically took the first period off as a welcoming gift to the Oilers which in turn also gave them the game. Edmonton was able to take advantage of just 11 shots on goal in the first hitting the twine with 3 of them and that was all that was needed the rest of the way. Colorado just simply didn't have it in the first managing a paltry 5 shots on home ice but were much better in the second getting 14 shots and the only goal of the frame to cut the lead to just 1. That was as close as the game would get however as C. Hellebuyck stood tall the remainder of the game turning aside 25 of 27 shots for an all important road win. Colorado will look to salvage a split on home ice before travelling to Edmonton for Game 3. Oilers up 1-0
