Eastern Finals

Habs     3

Isles      2

The Eastern Conference finals got under way in New York with the Isles hosting Montreal. Just like the Western Conference finals the 2 teams that most picked to be here were and just like the Western Finals the home team was the second best team on the ice. As pointed out on a few occasions, if you are playing the Isles and Vasilevskiy even you are losing. On this occassion the Habs were in control yet still went into the third period tied at 2 and GM Steve had to be wondering if he was running out of bullets in this one. Luckily for him Tyler Bertuzzi found the one bullet that managed to get by and Casey DeSmith was able to turn aside all 11 third period shots faced to secure the victory. This was a well earned victory for Montreal outshooting the homeside 43- 31 and stealing home ice in the process. Isles will look to rebound and salvage a split down 1-0
