BRHL U23 Ranking - Post-Season Edition 2023

Part 2 - 21st to 11th

21. Los Angeles Kings:

Kotkaniemi is the only full time NHLer for Rumpy’s Kings. Niemela looks like a promising player as well as Harrison. Foote has had cups of coffee in the NHL but will need to find his role to stick full-time. Having a full time NHLer under 23 places Rumpy at 21st.

Brett Harrison C 19 / Oliver Tarnstrom C 20 / Ryder Korczak C 20 / Topi Niemela RHD 21 / Jesperi Kotkaniemi C 22 / Nolan Foote LW 22 / Alexander Campbell C/LW 22 / Dustyn McFaul LHD 22

20. St. Louis Blues:

I have the notables as Bankier, Kidney, Quinn, Tuch, Suzuki & Soderstrom but I could see adding Grubbe in as well if you want to nitpick. Pretty good prospect list for last seasons cup winner.

Brody Lamb RW 19 / Robert Orr C/RW 19 / Caedan Bankier C 20 / Ethan Edwards LHD 20 / Jayden Grubbe C 20 / Riley Kidney C 20 / Tyson Galloway LHD 20 / Jack Quinn LW/RW 21 / Quinn Schmiemann LHD 21 / Jaromir Pytlik C 21 / Lucas Mercuri C 21 / Luke Tuch LW 21 / Ryder Rolston C/W 21 / Ryan Suzuki C 22 / Michal Teply LW 22 / Victor Soderstrom RHD 22 / Maxim Denezhkin C 22

19. Chicago Blackhawks:

Kaliyev, Tomasino, Afanasyev & Jenik look ready to step into full-time NHL roles, and four more look like fairly notable players in Bloom, Duke, Brisson & Poirier. The Hawks are slowly but surely getting younger in the BRHL.

Josh Bloom LW 19 / Dylan Duke C 20 / Philip Tomasino LW/RW 21 / Mason Primeau C 21 / Brendan Brisson C/W 21 / Jeremie Poirier LHD 21 / Rory Kerins CC/LW 21 / Ty Smilanic C 21 / Arthur Kaliyev LW/RW 22 / Karl Henriksson C 22 / Jan Jenik C 22 / Egor Afanasyev C/LW 22 / Connor Corcoran RHD 22 / Maxim Golod LW 22

18. Vancouver Canucks:

Boldy has been an impactful player at the NHL level netting 31 goals this season. Kaiser has been highly touted for a while and should have an easy path to the NHL in Chicago. Podkolzin & Hoglander have had some hiccups along the way but should be solid NHLers. Some other interesting prospects in the mix as well. I expected Rob's Canucks to be higher on this list before I started.

Jackson Kunz C 20 / Wyatt Kaiser LHD 20 / Luke Prokop RHD 21 / Leo Loof LHD 21 / Viktor Persson RHD 21 / Nils Hoglander LW/RW 22 / Matthew Boldy LW/RW 22 / Vasily Podkolzin LW/RW 22 / Jett Woo RHD 22 / Arturs Silovs G 22 / Aaron Huglen C/W 22 / Cade Webber LHD 22 / Cole Moberg RHD 22 / Jacob LeGuerrier LHD 22

17. Philadelphia Flyers:

Seider is a stud and Maccelli looked really good in the NHL this season. Behind them we have Pashin, Pitlick & Heinola who look like really good prospects and aren't far off. Anthony has been selling off young players to try and compete now, moving Marchenko really dropped him down this list.

Alexander Pashin C/W 20 / Matthew Rempe C 21 / Ronan Seeley LHD 21 / Anton Johannesson LHD 21 / Carson Bantle LW 21 / Luke Reid RHD 21 / Mason Millman LHD 21 / Oskar Magnusson C/RW 21 / Philippe Daoust C/LW 21 / Ruslan Iskhakov C 22 / Matias Maccelli LW 22 / Mortiz Seider RHD 22 / Ville Heinola LHD 22 / Simon Lundmark RHD 22 / Alex Young C/W 22 / Danil Savunov C/LW 22 / Matvei Guskov C 22 / Rhett Pitlick LW 22 / Santeri Hatakka LHD 22 / Trevor Janicke C/RW 22

16. Anaheim Ducks:

Devon just started another rebuild this season, so I expect him to load up on picks and build his prospect pool through the draft. He has some pretty good players though already in the organization in Zellweger, Raty & Evangelista. Some good potential as well with Pastujov, Buium, Perreault & Rees. One thing I always forget is how young Perreault is, seems like he’s been in the AHL forever due to the covid season.

Olen Zellweger LHD 19 / Sasha Pastujov LW/RW 19 / Aatu Raty C 20 / Ethan Del Mastro LHD 20 / Matvei Petrov LW/RW 20 / Ryan Ufko RHD 20 / Shai Buium RHD 20 / Luke Evangelista RW 21 / Jacob Perreault RW 21 / Jamieson Rees C 22 / Cedrick Andree G 22

15. Arizona Coyotes:

The Coyotes are a young team that have graduated players like Nick Suzuki & Carter Hart, so it’s no surprise they aren’t quite so high on this list. Still some good prospects here in McTavish, Stankoven & Olausson. Krebs & Boqvist are running out of time to show they’re high end players.

Andre Gasseau C 19 / Jakub Brabenec C/LW 19 / Mason McTavish C/LW 20 / Oskar Olausson RW 20 / Logan Stankoven C/RW 20 / Drew Krebs LHD 20 / Isaac Belliveau LHD 20 / Martin Rysavy LW 20 / Oskar Jellvik C/LW 20 / Ryan Mast RHD 20 / Sean Tschigerl LW 20 / Semyon Vyazovoy G 20 / Ryker Evans LHD 21 / Mads Sogaard G 22 / Peyton Krebs C/LW 22 / Adam Boqvist RHD 22 / Noah Beck LHD 22

14. Boston Bruins:

The Bruins were done dirty by the sim early on in the season, causing a change of direction towards a younger team. In particular, trading for Marchenko was a huge add for Greg. Some say the sim was angry with too many docking jokes made by Greg while others say it was because there weren't enough dick jokes. Maybe he'll figure it all out next season.

Ville Koivunen RW 20 / Lucas Raymond LW/RW 21 / Jean-Luc Foudy C 21 / Nicholas Robertson LW 21 / Emil Andre LHD 21 / Reece Newkirk C 22 / Connor McMichael C/LW 22 / Kirill Marchenko RW 22 / Antti Tuomisto RHD 22

13. New York Rangers:

Man, only 8 players on the list. So why did I rank the Rangers this high? Every one of these players is a high potential prospect outside Colangelo. We have one of the best G prospects in Wallstedt, some great forward prospects and a decent defender in Helleson.

Mavrik Bourque C 20 / Hendrix Lapierre C 20 / Jesper Wallstedt G 20 / Vasili Ponomarev C 21 / Marco Rossi C 21 / Connor Zary C 21 / Sam Colangelo C/RW 21 / Drew Helleson RHD 22

12. Nashville Predators:

Another team highly rated with only 8 players listed. But again it's a nice collection. The forward group is pretty amazing with Lundell & Dellandrea at the high end, Dach & Slaggert are intriguing but not as high end. And the defenders here are all amazing and I'm jealous of.

Brandt Clarke RHD 20 / Colton Dach C/LW 20 / Landon Slaggert C/LW 20 / Nolan Allan LHD 20 / William Wallinder LHD 20 / Anton Lundell C/LW 21 / Ty Dellandrea C/RW 22 / Gage Goncalves LW 22

11. Buffalo Sabres:

I'm not really a fan of ranking my own players because I'm obviously biased. The Sabres system is lacking a high end goaltender as well as high end defenders. Drysdale looked good early, but missing all but 8 games throws some haze on his future. There are other Dmen knocking on the NHL's doors, but guys like Lassi or Jones may need a change of scenery to get a spot.

Francesco Arcuri C/LW 19 / Jacob Holmes LHD 19 / Jakub Demek RW 19 / William Eklund C/LW 20 / Ridly Greig C/LW 20 / Martin Chromiak RW 20 / Mackie Samoskevich C/RW 20 / Matias Rajaniemi LHD 20 / Dawson Mercer C/RW 21 / Jamie Drysdale RHD 21 / Thomas Bordeleau C 21 / Jack Thompson RHD 21 / Carter Mazur LW 21 / Hugo Ollas G 21 / Massimo Rizzo C 21 / Ryan Francis C/RW 21 / Dylan Cozens C/LW 22 / Nikita Alexandrov C 22 / Alex Turcotte C 22 / Graeme Clarke C/RW 22 / Ethan Keppen LW 22 / Zachary Jones LHD 22 / Mattias Norlinder LHD 22 / Michael Vukojevic LHD 22 / Lassi Thomson RHD 22 / Hunter Skinner RHD 22 / Axel Bergkvist LHD 22 / Henry Thrun LHD 22 / Hunter Jones G 22 / Jacob Ingham G 22 / Maxim Cajkovic RW 22 / Nicholas Porco LW 22 / Robert Mastrosimone C/LW 22 / Trent Miner G 22

Okay, Part 2 I finished earlier than expected. Keep an eye out for the rest of these rankings during the week!
