BRHL U23 Ranking - Post-Season Edition 2023

Part 3 - 10th - 1st

10. Winnipeg Jets:

In retrospect, I probably should've had my Sabres ahead of the Jets. But there's lots to like here and I think the highlight of this prospect pool are the defencemen. Xhekaj, Broberg & Harley all look great as pros this season and should be there in the future as well. It also has some interesting players like Hanas & Beecher who I feel like are close to breaking out. A bit of everything at every position.

Zachary L'Heureux C/LW 19 / Samuel Helenius C 20 / Daniil Chayka LHD 20 / Dmitri Ovchinnikov W 20 / Michael Krutil RHD 20 / Prokhor Poltapov RW 20 / Samu Salminen C/LW 20 / Tristan Broz C 20 / Ville Ottavainen RHD 20 / Vyacheslav Peksa G 20 / Emil Heineman LW 21 / Cross Hanas LW 21 / Tyler Tullio RW 21 / Thomas Harley LHD 21 / Tyrel Bauer RHD 21 / Ryan O'Rourke LHD 21 / Ole Julian Bjorgvik Holm LHD 21 / Lukas Cormier LHD 21 / Artem Shlaine C 21 / Artur Akhtyamov G 21 / Chase Bradley C/LW 21 / Maxim Beryozkin LW/RW 21 / Noah Ellis RHD 21 / Trevor Kuntar C/LW 21 / Yegor Chinakov LW/RW 22 / John Beecher C 22 / Samuel Poulin C/LW 22 / Philip Broberg LHD 22 / Kaedan Korczak RHD 22 / Artemi Knyazev LHD 22 / Arber Xhekaj LHD 22 / Albin Grewe LW/RW 22 / Bryce Brodzinski RW 22 / Eric Engstrand LW/RW 22 / Serron Noel RW 22

9. Seattle Kraken:

Rex the goalie hoarder. Cossa, Wolf, Hofer...and that's just the ones under 23. On top of the goalie factory the Kraken have a pertty good forward prospect in NHLer Kent Johnson. There are some good depth pieces here too that could turn into something special like the huge Soderblom or highly rated Holloway. This prospect pool is missing a high end D prospect though, perhaps he'll address that at the draft.

Kirill Gerasimyuk G 19 / Kent Johnson C/LW 20 / William Trudeau LHD 20 / Leevi Merilainen G 20 / Albert Sjoberg C/W 20 / Jan Bednar G 20 / Luca Munzenberger LHD 20 / Mason Langenbrunner RHD 20 / Maximus Wanner RHD 20 / Rasmus Korhonen G 20 / Sebastian Cossa G 20 / Talyn Boyko G 20 / Viljami Marjala LW 20 / Dylan Holloway C/LW 21 / Carter Savoie LW 21 / Alexander Kisakov LW 21 / Gage Alexander G 21 / Aku Raty RW 21 / Arvid Costmar C 21 / Juho Markkanen G 21 / Mikael Pyyhtia C/LW 21 / Mitchell Miller RHD 21 / Owen Lindmark C 21 / Juuso Parssinen C 22 / Raphael Lavoie C/RW 22 / Henri Nikkanen C 22 / Elmer Soderblom C/LW 22 / Andre Lee C/LW 22 / Blade Jenkins LW 22 / Dustin Wolf G 22 / Joel Hofer G 22 / Remi Poirier G 22 / Vadim Zherenko G 22 / Adam Edstrom C/W 22 / Colten Ellis G 22 / Judd Caufield C/RW 22 / Kai Edmonds G 22 / Lukas Parik G 22 / Patrick Moynihan RW 22

8. Florida Panthers:

Don't stare at this list for too long, you're likely to go crosseyed. Man this is a lot to unpack. Tyler, you've assembled quite an army of youth there. The highlights of this list are Johnston, Mukhamadullin, Othmann, Behrens, Reichel, Caufield & Kakko. There's also some deeper prospects who I'm sure anyone would love to have in their system in Red Savage. Oh, I probably should have mentioned Coronato earlier too...damn this is a lot of players.

Hakon Hanelt LHD 19 / James Malatesta C/LW 19 / Lucas Forsell RW 19 / Nikita Novikov LHD 19 / Oliver Kapanen C 19 / Cole Sillinger C 20 / Wyatt Johnson C 20 / Vincent Iorio RHD 20 / Shakir Mukhamadullin LHD 20 / Samuel Knazko LHD 20 / Aatu Jamsen LW/RW 20 / Aidan Hreschuk LHD 20 / Aku Koskenvuo G 20 / Arseni Sergeyev G 20 / Artyom Grushnikov LHD 20 / Brennan Othmann LW 20 / Conner Roulette C/LW 20 / Dmitri Kuzmin LHD 20 / Ilya Fedotov LW 20 / Jack Matier RHD 20 / Jalen Luypen C/LW 20 / Kasper Puutio RHD 20 / Kirill Kirsanov LHD 20 / Manix Landry C 20 / Marat Khusnutdinov C/LW 20 / Matthew Coronato LW/RW 20 / Nikita Guslistov C/LW 20 / Nikolai Makarov LHD 20 / Owen McLaughlin C 20 / Philip Svedeback G 20 / Redmond Savage C 20 / Sean Behrens LHD 20 / Topias Vilen LHD 20 / Yegor Naumov G 20 / Ilya Usov C 21 / Lukas Reicel C/LW 21 / Adam Raska LW/RW 21 / Donovan Sebrango LHD 21 / Blake Biondi C 21 / Cameron Berg C 21 / Domenick Fensore LHD 21 / Ivan Vorobyov C/W 21 / Jacob Truscott LHD 21 / Rodion Amirov LW 21 / Thimo Nickl RHD 21 / Cole Caufield LW 22 / Kappo Kakko RW 22 / Xavier Simoneau C 22 / Pavel Dorofeyev C 22 / Kirill Tyutyayev C/LW 22 / Timur Ibragimov LW 22 / Nathan Legare RW 22 / Peetro Seppala LHD 22 / Albert Johansson LHD 22 / Adam Wilsby LHD 22 / Isaiah Saville G 22 / Taylor Gauthier G 22 / Alexander Daryin LW/RW 22 / Arseni Gritsyuk LW/RW 22 / Case McCarthy RHD 22 / Daniil Pylenkov LHD 22 / Jack Malone C/RW 22 / John Farinacci C 22 / Karel Plasek LW 22 / Miska Kukkonen RHD 22 / Roman Bychkov LHD 22 / Samuel Johannesson RHD 22 / Yegor Spiridonov C/LW 22 / Yevgeni Oksentyuk LW/RW 22 / Zakhar Bardakov C/RW 22

7. New Jersey Devils:

Okay, so there aren't as many players as Ty's Panthers. But that is no knock, the Devils have one of the best young centers in the league in Stutzle to go along with other high end prospects like Guenther, Brink & Pelletier. Lucius looked pretty good in the WHL, at the WJC, and in the AHL.

Dylan Guenther RW 19 / Oscar Plandowski RHD 19 / Chaz Lucius C 20 / Tim Stutzle C 21 / Jake Neighbours LW 21 / Arshdeep Bains LW 21 / Bobby Brink RW 21 / Alexander Ljungkrantz LW/RW 21 / Joel Blomqvist G 21 / Joni Jurmo LHD 21 / Simon Knak LW/RW 21 / Tyler Angle C 22 / Cole Schwindt C/RW 22 / Aliaksei Protas C/W 22 / Jakob Pelletier LW 22 / Zachary Emond G 22

6. Calgary Flames:

I was expecting Kevin to have the most prospects. He doesn't, but he does have a nice collection here. Lafreniere is the highlight but Cam York, Shane Pinto & Zach Dean are also looking pretty good. Dach is a full-time NHLer and looks to be breaking out in Montreal. There's a high end goalie in the system in Knight, some good D depth in Moore & Johnson. Solid list here. It's been noted that Boucher is now Habs property, that doesn't change much for the Flames.

Jackson Blake C/RW 19 / Danila Klimovich RW 20 / Joaquim Lemay LHD 20 / Stanislav Svozil LHD 20 / Tyler Boucher LW/RW 20 / Zach Dean C 20 / Alexis Lafreniere LW/RW 21 / Tristen Robins C 21 / Josh Doan C/W 21 / Ben McCartney LW 21 / Ian Moore RHD 21 / Ryan Johnson LHD 21 / Kirby Dach C/RW 22 / Semyon Der-Arguchintsev C 22 / Shane Pinto C 22 / Vladislav Kolyachonok LHD 22 / Cam York LHD 22 / Spencer Knight G 22 / Daniil Chechelev G 22 / Dmitri Zavgorodny LW 22 / Quinn Olson C/LW 22

5. Pittsburgh Penguins:

If these guys start playing up to their potential Toby may not be able to be a tanker much longer. Quinton Byfield being the obvious choice for someone who looks ready to turn a corner next season, although it might have to be on the wing. Hughes looked really good in the playoffs for NJ and should be a big piece for them next season. Other players to highlight here are Rosen, Hinds, Perfetti, Holtz...the list goes on. Nicely done.

Luke Hughes LHD 19 / Niko Huuhtanen RW 19 / Ryan Winterton C/W 19 / Zack Ostapchuk LW 19 / Quinton Byfield C/LW 20 / Roby Jarventie LW 20 / Ozzy Wiesblatt RW 20 / Isak Rosen RW 20 / Chase Stillman RW 20 / Nikita Chibrikov LW/RW 20 / Stiven Sardaryan C/RW 20 / Tyson Hinds LHD 20 / Cole Perfetti C/LW 21 / Alexander Holtz LW/RW 21 / Tyson Foerster C/RW 21 / Daniel Torgersson LW/RW 21 / Mack Guzda G 21 / Alex Laferriere RW 21 / Antti Sarrela C/W 21 / Declan McDonnell C/RW 21 / Jordan Frasca C 21 / Roni Hirvonen C 21 / Taige Harding LHD 21 / Tyler Kleven LHD 21 / Brayden Tracey LW 22 / Lucas Edmonds LW/RW 22 / Ryan Merkley RHD 22 / Nico Daws G 22 / Dillon Hamaliuk LW 22 / Gianni Fairbrother LHD 22 / Mason Lohrei LHD 22

4. Washington Capitals:

Larry pulled the plug on going for the playoffs this season and moved what he could for future assets. Among those brought in were Seth Jarvis, Dylan Garand & Brett Bedard. These guys boost an already decent U23 pool of players like Zegras and Lundkvist.

Aleksi Malinen LHD 19 / Dylan Garand G 20 / Brett Bedard LW 20 / Drew Commesso G 20 / Seth Jarvis RW 21 / Danil Gushchin RW 21 / Bogdan Trineyev LW 21 / Carter Gylander G 21 / Dylan Peterson C 21 / Kirill Tankov C 21 / Matias Mantykivi C 21 / Veeti Miettinen RW 21 / Trevor Zegras C/LW 22 / Nils Lundkvist RHD 22 / Maxence Guenette RHD 22 / Hugo Alnefelt G 22 / Harrison Blaisdell C 22 / Leevi Aaltonen LW/RW 22 / Lucas Feuk C/W 22 / Nikola Pasic RW 22 / Olof Lindbom G 22

3. Detroit Red Wings:

Dan has probably the best U23 player in the BRHL in Jack Hughes. I don't really see any potential superstars past that, but some really nice depth is in here like Joshua Roy. Peterka looks like he's solidified a spot in the NHL at 21 as well. Dan used to have Guhle, Lambos, Dach and Jarvis but pushed his chips all in this year loading up the roster. This is still an impressive list.

Artem Guryev LHD 19 / Joshua Roy C/W 19 / Pasquale Zito C/RW 19 / Brian Zanetti LHD 20 / Colby Ambrosio C 20 / Evan Nause LHD 20 / Fyodor Svechkov C/LW 20 / Garin Bjorklund G 20 / Guillaume Richard LHD 20 / Jack Bar RHD 20 / Jack Beck LW/RW 20 / Jonathan Myrenberg RHD 20 / Liam Dower Nilsson C/W 20 / Lukas Svejkovsky C 21 / Keean Washkurak C 21 / Jack Finley C 21 / Justin Sourdif C 21 / Antonio Stranges C/RW 21 / JJ Peterka LW/RW 21 / Eemil Viro LHD 21 / Jakub Malek G 21 / Jayden Struble LHD 21 / Josh Pillar C/RW 21 / Michael Benning RHD 21 / Ryan Tverberg C/RW 21 / Theodor Niederbach C/RW 21 / Jack Hughes C 22 / Mikhail Abramov C 22 / Blake Murray C 22 / Emil Martinsen Lilleberg LHD 22 / Jack Perbix RHD 22 / Sasha Mutala RW 22

2. Vegas Golden Knights:

Joe has some absolute studs on the backend here which I'm sure everyone is jealous of. Edvinsson, Lambos, Schneider, Guhle just to name a few. On top of that one of the best young goalies in the world in Askarov and a young forward who looks poised to walk away with the 2023 NHL Calder trophy in Beniers. Very nice.

Nicholas Jones G 18 / Jake Chiasson C/RW 19 / William Stromgren LW 19 / Fabian Lysell RW 20 / Simon Edvinsson LHD 20 / Corson Ceulemans RHD 20 / Brett Brochu G 20 / Carson Lambos LHD 20 / Carson Latimer RW 20 / Cole Jordan LHD 20 / Ethan Cardwell RW 20 / Jackson Hallum W 20 / Kalle Vaisanen LW 20 / Kyle Masters RHD 20 / Logan Mailloux LHD 20 / Zachary Bolduc C 20 / Matthew Beniers C 21 / Braden Schneider RHD 21 / Kaiden Guhle LHD 21 / Daemon Hunt LHD 21 / Yaroslav Askarov G 21 / Alexei Kolosov G 21 / Alex Jefferies LW 21 / Alexander Gordin C/RW 21 / Samuel Bolduc RHD 22 / Bowen Byram LHD 22 / Nils Aman C 22 / Josh Lopina C 22 / Jet Greaves G 22 / Albin Sundsvik C 22

1. Tampa Bay Lightning:

Top dog as I see it is Eric's Lightning. His young players offer a little bit of everything, from big two-way defenders in Power & Sanderson, offensive minded Dman in Morrow, and a defensive minded one in Faber. High end forwards in Pinelli, Voit, Bourgault. Add into the mix the longer shots like Nybeck, Gunler & Beckman and this is the best under 23 roster in the BRHL.

Ty Voit C/LW 19 / Xavier Bourgault C 20 / Owen Power LHD 20 / Jake Sanderson LHD 20 / Ayrton Martino LW 20 / Brock Faber RHD 20 / Calle Clang G 20 / Francesco Pinelli C 20 / Scott Morrow RHD 20 / Zayde Wisdom C 21 / Elliot Desnoyers C/LW 21 / Noel Gunler LW/RW 21 / William Dufore RW 21 / Alex Beaucage RW 21 / Justin Barron LHD 21 / Devon Levi G 21 / Kasper Simontaival RW 21 / Pavel Novak RW 21 / Zion Nybeck C/W 21 / Adam Beckman LW 22 / Tuukka Tieksola RW 22 / Simon Holmstrom RW 22 / Brandon Coe RW 22 / Mikko Kokkonen LHD 22 / Daniil Misyul LHD 22 / Eric Ciccolini RW 22 / Magnus Chrona G 22 / Patrik Puistola LW/RW 22
