A look at the nominees

The BRHL Awards season is upon us, celebrating the exceptional performances and contributions of players throughout the year. Let's take a closer look at the nominees and winners in some of the most prestigious categories:

 

Hart Trophy Nominees: The Hart Trophy is awarded to the most valuable player in the league. This year's nominees include J.T. Miller (EDM), Alexander Barkov (NYI), and Frederik Andersen (COL). Miller had an outstanding season, recording 49 goals and 57 assists for a total of 106 points, while boasting an impressive plus/minus rating of +39. Barkov also made his mark with 42 goals and 60 assists, accumulating 102 points and a +41 rating. Andersen, a goaltender, showcased remarkable skill with a .933 save percentage, a 1.97 goals against average (GAA), 57 wins, and 9 shutouts in 72 games played.

 

Norris Trophy Nominees: The Norris Trophy recognizes the league's top defenseman. This year's contenders are Charlie McAvoy (NYI), Morgan Riley (EDM), and Adam Fox (CGY). McAvoy demonstrated his offensive prowess, tallying 13 goals and 65 assists for a total of 78 points, along with an impressive +41 rating. Riley displayed his defensive prowess while contributing offensively, recording 11 goals and 56 assists, accumulating 67 points, and boasting a +45 rating. Fox showcased his playmaking skills with 6 goals, 62 assists, and 68 points, accompanied by a +9 rating.

 

Calder Trophy Nominees: The Calder Trophy is awarded to the top rookie in the league. This year's nominees include Anton Lundell (NAS), Mortiz Seider (PHI), and Matt Boldy (VAN). Lundell had an impressive rookie campaign, netting 29 goals and providing 34 assists for a total of 63 points and a +10 rating. Seider showcased his two-way ability, recording 10 goals, 40 assists, and 50 points, while maintaining a +14 rating. Boldy made an impact with 23 goals, 27 assists, and 50 points, along with a +23 rating.

 

Vezina Trophy Nominees: The Vezina Trophy is awarded to the league's top goaltender. This year's nominees are Frederik Andersen (COL), Andrei Vasilevskiy (NYI), and Jacob Markstrom (CLB). Andersen stood out with his remarkable performance, boasting a .933 save percentage, a 1.97 GAA, 57 wins, and 9 shutouts in 72 games played. Vasilevskiy demonstrated his consistency with a .926 save percentage, a 2.15 GAA, 52 wins, and 8 shutouts in 69 games played. Markstrom displayed his skill with a .930 save percentage, a 1.94 GAA, 48 wins, and 6 shutouts in 68 games played.

 

Minors MVP Nominees: The Minors MVP award recognizes outstanding performances in the minor leagues. This year's nominees include Craig Smith (LAK), Rocco Grimaldi (COL), and Jonathan Dahlen (BUF). Smith had a phenomenal season, recording 41 goals and 75 assists for a total of 116 points, accompanied by a +38 rating. Grimaldi also impressed with 53 goals, 58 assists, and 111 points, along with a +38 rating. Dahlen showcased his talent with 44 goals, 61 assists, and 105 points, while maintaining a +36 rating.

 

As the BRHL Awards ceremony approaches, fans eagerly await the announcement of the winners in each category, recognizing the extraordinary talent and dedication displayed by these exceptional athletes throughout the season.
