Eastern Finals

Habs     5

Isles      3

The Eastern Conference Finals came to an abrupt conclusion in Long Island despite what many (me included) thought would be a long hard fought battle. To say that all-world goalie A. Vasilevskiy was the reason for the loss may be a tad harsh but he certainly didn't live up to his rather lofty expectations either. This game was as good an example as any as to why it will be Montreal representing the East in this years finals. This was a very even game throughout with the final shots being 35-34 in favor of the visitors yet this is the third straight home loss for New York. At this point nobody is sure if Montreal is simply a bad match-up for the Isles or what happened but Vasilevskiy was never himself in this series and he was once again out-performed by the opposing goalie. GM Steve has had zero issues between the pipes regardless of which tender is playing which is making for 100% health in each and every start and confidence throughout the organization. Montreal will look to take those feelings forward to the Cup Finals and now have a nice break awaiting the West. Habs win 4-1
