32 THOUGHTS - Thoughts 9 to 16 (Pacific Division)

Literally a description of the first thought to come to my simple little mind when I hear these teams mentioned...

Cash Flowing Calgary – When I think of wealthy GMs, Kevin’s name immediately comes up.  Which is quite impressive because he’s also the best of the west right now.  His gaudy powerplay is what’s leading the charge, but he’s built himself a great all-round team.  Young and old, defensive and offensive, a nice overall mix.   To boot, he also owns Uncle Rich's 2024 first.

Schmid and Sumit’s Soft Sharks – Goaltending will decide how far Sumit goes this spring.  They’ll go as deep as a 99 SC goalie will take a weak team.  All jokes aside, Sumit’s team boasts big names and lots of leadership.  Up front he’s gone top-heavy with offensiveness and bottom-heavy with defensiveness.  Doesn’t own a 1st til 2075, but always seems to win cash bets off the rest of you plugs, which helps him stay competitive.

The Edmonton Enamels – Okay I couldn’t think of any good dentist-related names, so this is all you’re getting.  McDavid who?  The sim’s highest-rated offensive player never seems to lead the league in scoring.  31 other GMs, including myself, would be whining about this fact, but Leon is apparently a better person than the rest of us.   I’d love it if he’d trade me JT Miller without wanting Drai as the return.

The Bryce-Botham Boys – The quietest 25-14-5 team in the league… Mind you, probably the only 25-14-5 team in the league… Bryce’s farm team, or Rob’s pro team, whatever it is, has impressed so far.  I liked some of the pieces in place already, and the addition of Giroux was sneaky good.  Would love to see where Rob could take this team if he made some moves, but the most lucrative one would be to auction off the franchise name to all the die-hard BRHL Canucks fans.

Seattle Stoppers – One day our friend Rex will google “ice hockey” and realize that only one goalie can play at a time.  Even though I love Rex, one of the things that makes any real-life or fake pro-sports league entertaining is when teams miring in the bottom half of the league don’t own their 1sts.   So, thank you for that brother.  There are a few good pieces here, so as long as he continues to be patient and listen to Bryce’s advice at the drafts, there is a brighter future.

Yet to See the Bast in Joe – For some reason, Joe’s the GM I see randomly winning the lottery this spring. Maybe that’s wishful thinking seeing he’s in the West, or just the fact he could use some more umphh from the forward side of things in his prospect pool.  A tough negotiator is the other thing that comes to mind when thinking about Joe as I have helped him personally with his fairly impressive teardown/rebuild by restocking his farm system via trade.

Reeling Rumpy – ALL IN for the 2024 draft.  If Rumpy does his homework, and hits on his picks, this draft will go down in BRHL Kings history.  He will likely need to make the most of his firsts because if the BRHL season ended today, even with all those 1sts, Rumpy would still only have a 22% chance of landing the top dog.  Cls 1st + Sea 1st + Los 1st = 5% + 3.5% + 13.5% = 22%.  All other 1st round picks would currently be ineligible to win the lottery.  Here’s hoping he tries to move up and give us some entertainment.

Devon’s Dreadful Ducks – This young man is also ALL-IN on the tank.  3 wins and his team is already into the 2nd half.  Very impressive.  Even more impressive is that Svech, Meier, and Oettinger are playing lots.  He probably deserves the lotto luck just for these efforts.  While everyone else near the bottom is cursing every time the sim results are posted that they’ve pickup a point, Dev is just chilling out having a good laugh.
