The first 16 selections of the 2025 BRHL Draft.... Exactly How They Will Go Down
We have the Non-Playoff teams and their draft order all set in stone.. So, enjoy a sneak peek into how the first half of round 1 should shake out
1. Ana from Minny. Devon spent his life savings on acquiring this selection, and salivates as he selects the lanky 6 foot 4, Beckett Senecke 1st overall. When asked why he didn't target the 3rd or 4th overall pick to draft Sennecke, Dev exclaims that the OHL is the best league in the world, and you can't trust those prospects who only played in the NHL or KHL last season.
2. Sea from Anaheim. Rex proudly steps up to the podium to announce Ilya Nabokov as the new Kraken goalie of the future. Quickly there is a bunch of commotion where Jared and Ty Bell take him aside to let him know Nabokov is ineligible. "Don't worry" Rex proclaims, "Seattle has a backup plan" and Carter George is instantly selected in his place.
3. Veg from SJS. Joe's excitement to see a top London Knight's prospect available at 3 distracts him from the fact Celibrini and Demidov are still on the board. But this is a special moment that no one wants to take away from Joe, so all remain quiet while he beamingly announces Sam Dickinson as the selection, while sporting his London Knight's pajamas.
4. Det from Ottawa. While the local scouts insist that Ivan Demidov would be a great pick here, Dan declares that the 1 Habs prospect Detroit owns is one too many. Knowing that Toby pays up for young players he likes, and this is the first time in years Dan drafts ahead of him, Dan snags Kieron Walton at 4 while he winks at new Wild GM Toby Cordell.
5. Det from Toronto. As Dan was never able to acquire his hero, Auston Matthews, in the BRHL, he decides to fill that void with a different American-born sniper, and selects Cole Eiserman at 5th.
6. Caro from Carolina. Wow, the 1st selection of the 1st round that hasn't changed hands. Uncle Rich finally looks at his roster and realizes how abysmal it actually is and kick-starts the rebuild with Macklin Celibrini. While some doubt his selection, the most hockey-savvy BRHL GM, Pat Padula, who's been catching lots of Sharks games, assures Rich it's not an off-the-board pick.
7. Winnipeg. With lots of great forwards in tow, Doc decides the almost-complete rebuild needs a D-man. While some scouts suggest Parekh or Yakemchuk, Doc knows his team leads leadership and grabs Generals captain, Ben Danforth, at 7th. "It only happens to be by chance he's a Leafs prospect", Doc proclaims during the post-draft interview.
8. Pittsburgh. While we don't know a ton about Matt, he seems to play it very safe. Seeing Artyom Levshunov has already cracked an NHL roster, he grabs the Hawks D-man at 8, nervous to take a flier on anyone else.
9. Det from Cls. Dan decides that because his strategy of going all in on size, defense, and physicality flopped for him in 2025, he decides to flip the script and target the shifty, but pint-sized, Berkley Catton at 11.
10. Tor from Veg. Thrilled with landing Geekie in a trade with Joe, Garrett is, however, visibly upset about the flip side, as his brother moved ahead of him in the draft and stole his top target, Ben Danforth. Garrett decides Cayden Lindstrom is his guy at 10, and states "I know his development might be slowed by the year off, but I'm only in year 12 of 20 in my rebuild. So I can wait".
11. Cls from StL. Jesse is a hard one to read. He's gutted his team, but seems to be building it back with crazy physical 99 checkers. Yegor Surin seems to fit that mold very swimmingly, and helps turn Cls into the 2020's version of the Broad Street Bullies (minus the skill).
12. Montreal. Steve Vardy at pick 12, selects his the cornerstone of his franchise in Michael Hage. He immediately names him team captain as his only other choices are Curtis Lazar and Alex Nylander.
13. Los Angeles. While he didn't impress in college this season, Rumpy snags Dean Letourneau here, knowing that there's "no way" the Bruins could've messed up another 1st round draft selection.
14. Tby from Philly. Our fearless co-commissioner... or assistant commissioner... no one really knows... decides the only way to overcome his playoff failures is to select the largest, hulkiest defender available, Anton Silayev, at 14.
15. Ott from Sea. The run of D-men continues at 15. Brayden gleefully selects the meanest, grittiest player in the draft, hometown boy, Carter Yakemchuk, while sporting his own set of Ottawa Senators pajamas and undies.
16. Florida. While scouting for the next Ilya Nabokov, Tyler runs out of time and realizes he has to call up the BRHL's premier prospect-scout for advice. The reliable, Jared Mitchell, answers on the first ring and recommends Ty selects the next Bobby Orr. Tyler wastes no more time and announces, Cole Huston at pick 16.
