Christmas Miracle in Dallas!
Stars making anticipated move for a goalie
Dallas, TX - As one GM snuggles into his bed after a late night Chinese dinner and another one finishing up playing drunk "Find the Pickle" with his three sons, the two GMs got together to kiddingly talk about trades. Dallas GM Kato playfully threw out the possibility of a trade for top 5 goalie, Marc-Andre Fleury. Canes GM Cordell was surprisingly receptive...probably because he "won" the game of "Find the Pickle". Maybe it was the Scorpion Bowl talking, but Kato finally had come to grips in sending out the 1st round pick for a rental goalie. He never likes the idea of sending out a 1st for a rental, so there was further discussions about adding. In the end, Dallas got a top 5 rental goalie, a serviceable bottom 6 forward in Mathieu Perrault and his bad contract and a defensive specialist in Torrey Mitchell. Along with the 1st, the Stars sent 2-way forward Blake Comeau and Jannik Hansen.
Dallas is in the middle of the pack in goals against so GM Kato knew he had to make a move if he wanted to have a shot at the title. With the most goals for in the West, he knew that the team would be a top contender with the addition of Fleury. Even with injuries to his top blueliners, the Stars got quality wins against the Flames, Blackhawks, and Islanders. He knew that it was time to pull the trigger. Dallas will still have Ryan Ellis out for a couple more weeks, but that shouldn't stop them from really taking it to the competition now.
From what we gather, it sounds like the Stars are still not done making moves to add to this team in hopes of winning the title. They still have all their picks from 2020 that the Stars are willing to move for players with term.
