Goalies once again key

Preds 4

Flames 0

As appears to be the norm every playoffs, goaltending or a lack thereof decides most outcomes and for the second straight match-up Kari Lehtonen has vastly outperformed Bobby Lou. In a game as even as this one appeared to be (shots 34-33) the only difference is the Flames inability to get a puck past Lehtonen while the Preds have managed 4 road goals in both games. Evander Kane only managed to get 2 shots on goal in this affair but made them both count bulging the twine twice to lead the visitors to a 2-0 series advantage. Look for some changes to the Calgary roster following another disappointing result!

Kings    3

Vegas    1

I don't know quite what to say about the Kings strategy in this series other than it appears to be working. For the second straight game the visitors from LA have been completely dominated from start to finish yet walked out of the arena celebrating a victory! Kings goaltending has been out of this world and thankfully for GM Rumpel and his squad they have 2 solid goalies to rely on as clearly 1 would not stand up given the amount of shots being faced. Sooner or later something will have to give however if the Kings wish to continue their success as being outplayed the way they are will catch up to them at some point. Series shifting back to LA with Kings up 2-0

Jets    1

Stars  3

For the second straight game the hometown Stars have carried the play from start to finish dominating the game in every facet. Posting double-digit shots in all three periods and finishing with 45 shots for the game the only positive for the Jets to this point is their goaltending is at least keeping them from being blown out. Not sure what the "Doc" is going to do to stem the tide but to this point nothing is going right for the Jets......looking for some type of a major shake-up for the next game as they head to "the Peg" for game 3. Stars looking good up 2-0.

Hawks   1

Aves     2

What difference a game makes....after last games goaltending performance it would be hard to believe that these 2 tenders couldn't collectively stop a beachball in the previous game. With both GM's clearly not happy with their team defense, both squads tightened up considerably and this one was tied at 1 late into the third period. Both teams possess elite firepower however and someone had to crack the egg. S. Aho got that opportunity with less than 3 minutes left in regulation, as J. Muzzin was sitting in the box for the second time in the period, and he made no mistake putting the Aves out front for good! As expected, this series is going to be tight and shifts back to Chicago ties at 1.
