Daily Recap

Flames   1

Preds    0

In a game Calgary had to have they put the hometown Preds and their fans to sleep and slipped out of the arena before anyone woke up with a 1 goal victory. Despite both sides having multiple PP chances only M. Barzal was able to sneak 1 past K.Lehtonen and that was all that was needed. Of note was Cam Talbot making his series debut for Calgary and out dueling the slightly busier Lehtonen for the win. Calgary will look to even things up in the next game while the Preds will look to take a strangle hold of the series before returning to Calgary for game 5. Preds still lead 2-1

Vegas  4

Kings   2

What to say about this series? LA goes to Vegas, gets caved in for 6 straight periods and returns to home ice up 2-0 in the series. After getting back to home ice the Kings play their best 60 minutes of the playoffs and trail throughout before falling to visiting Vegas! The Kings came out flying in this one and pumped 20 first period shots on goal but somehow were trailing 2-0. Very early in the second period Vegas pretty much ended the contest scoring yet again to make it 3-0  and the period ended 3-1 despite an LA team that had outshot the visitors 28-19. GM Bast has to feel some relief at finally being able to get a victory and perhaps the move to D.Dubnyk was the key to this win while GM Rumpel still has to be pleased at his teams turnaround despite the loss as clearly you can't expect continued success being badly outshot and out played! LA leads 2-1

Stars   0

Jets    2

In "the Peg" the host Jets managed to scratch their way back into the series with a shutout victory. The crowd was pumped and the Jets fed off of it, maybe a bit too much as they took 6 penalties in this one with the Stars taking none. Obviously it is hard to lose when you don't give up a goal and that may be the only strategy that will work against the visitors from Dallas. Playing with a lead is huge for this Jets team and taking a 2-0 lead to the room following the first period, despite being outshot 12-7, was clearly the key as Dallas struggled the rest of the way to get pucks on goal. The Jets will once again try and take an early lead in the next one and shut the door. Of note however was the health of starter J. Howard as he was clearly fatigued following this game and it is not known whether he will get the nod in game 4. Stars up 2-1

Aves     3

Hawks   4 OT4

In "the most interesting series in the world" game there was some more interesting drama to discuss. This series has already provided more twists and turns, ups and downs, and all around wild shit than some teams may see all playoffs! With Chicago coming home with a split and stealing home ice the Hawks came out full of piss, took it to GM Shucks Aves and were rewarded on the scoresheet when they went up 3-1 at the 4:08 mark of the third. Chicago outshot Colorado 37-24 through 3 periods but somehow Colorado managed to tie the game with under a minute left on the clock to force overtime. After playing 3 full periods of overtime there was still nothing decided as both teams played a controlled and cautious game. The big break in the game came unexpectedly when E.Staal took a defensive zone faceoff, won the draw, took the puck the length of the ice and ripped a shot P.Rinne couldn't handle before banging home his own rebound for the game winner! The longest game in BRHL history went to the Blackhawks and crowd packed into the "madhouse on Madison". With this group of exhausted players and goalies that combined to face 113 shots it is unclear at this time of any possible roster changes for game 4. Hawks lead 2-1
