Daily Recap

Isles   0

Habs  4

The Habs returned home after stealing home ice looking to build on their success and did in a big way shutting out the visitors from Long Island. After potting 2 in both the first and second periods the only thing left to determine was whether or not Goalie Bob could post the shutout. Jeff Carter has been a beast early on in these playoffs already netting 4 goals in just 3 games and will be hoping for more of the same going forwar. Of note in this one was Vasilevskiy getting the hook after giving up 4 goals on just 15 shots while Halak came in and stopped all 17 he faced. Perhaps a goalie controversy is brewing in NY but they need to figure it out soon as they now trail in the series 2-1.

Pens   1

CBJ    3

Columbus returned home in desperate need of a win and took a page out of the Kings playbook to get it. The Jackets were getting outshot and outplayed through 2 periods and had a 2-0 lead? Ben Bishop was simply outstanding in this one stopping all 28 shots faced after 2 periods but it took a late 3rd period PPG from "Big Buff" to finally secure the "w" after the Pens had clawed back to a 1 goal deficit. Game 4 looms huge in this series with the Pens leading 2-1

Bruins  2

Wings  0

In what many had felt would be a long dragged out donnybrook of a series we now have a team 1 win away from a broom job! The hope for Detroit was a return home would be the tonic needed to right the ship and it appeared to be the case as they played a disciplined patient game. Boston was clearly amped up for this game and took penalty after penalty before the game ended with a 8-1 PP disadvantage but the Bruins netminder was totally unfazed by the pressure and made save after save . Ironically it was the lone Bruin PP opportunity in the third that provided the dagger as J.T. ended the home sides hopes of a comeback potting his second of the playoffs. Detroit is 1 loss away from a disasterous end to their season down 3-0

Sens   1

Bolts   4

Another team that returned home in desperation mode for a win got it despite doing everything wrong. In what is becoming a ridiculous trend in these playoffs, the team that was totally dominated somehow won. The best period of the game from a competetive stand point was the first where the Lightning were outshot 12-10 and the game tied at zero. The rest of the game produced a 36-17 shot advantage for the Sens and a 4-1 Lightning win???? Jonathon Quick was named the games 1st star and if the Lightning hope to go anywhere with stats like these past 3 games then J. Quick better also be the Conn Smythe winner as well!!! Lightning get back in the series and will try to even up in game 4 trailing 2-1
