Daily Recap
Flames 4 OT
Preds 3
You would be hard pressed to find a game this lopsided that required overtime to solve. The visiting Flames controlled every facet of this game from the opening puck drop. Calgary outshot the hometown Preds 37-17 by the time they finally got the winner and if not for the heroics of Lehtonen this game could have been over after the first period. The Preds were flat and undisciplined throughout taking 8 penalties while allowing 2 goals on them. With the series now tied following this result GM Sheds has a decision to make as Lehtonen is now clearly feeling the grind and will not be close to 100% for the next game. The series now shifts back to Calgary with the Flames hoping to be the first team to actually get a win on home ice and take their first advantage. Series at 2-2
Vegas 3 OT3
Kings 2
In the never ending battle between Bryce and Rumpy, Rumpy tried to 1-up Bryces longest BRHL game in history but fell 1 period short despite his best efforts. This one was another hard fought game in LA and once again the Kings fell despite playing better then the games they won. D. Dubnyk got his second straight start and second straight win for Vegas so it will be interesting to see who gets the nod in goal when the puck drops for game 5. Both goalies played out of their minds in this 1 with 100 combined shots and it was a shame that someone had to take the loss. This is the second series where the home team has yet to win so we will see what happens in game 5 back in Vegas tied 2-2
Stars 3
Jets 2
The Jets once again tried to get out to an early lead and then shut the door with strong goaltending but this time the Stars pushback was just too strong to contain. The visitors from Dallas apparently thought the game was starting an hour later as they didn't show up until the second period trailing 2-0 while only directing 5 shots on the Jets goal. Dallas got better and better every period however and pumped 27 shots combined on the Jet goal over the second and third periods while scoring twice on the PP to tie and then win it late on a goal from Jean-Gabriel Pageau. Stars take command up 3-1 heading home for game 5
Aves 3
Hawks 1
R. Lehner got his first start of the playoffs for Chicago and although he didn't play poorly his team did in front of him.The Aves played a flawless road game controlling all 3 periods and taking the home crowd out of it. This was a pretty emotionless game with only 5 combined total PP's and thats just the way the road team wants it. Colorado took a 2-0 lead to the third but an early penalty gave Chicago an opportunity to get back into it and they took advantage of their 1 PP chance. Colorado was not about to let this strong effort go to waste however and Mikko Rantanen put this game away with his 3rd of the playoffs at the 11:20 mark. Series now tied at 2
