Daily Recap

Isles     4

Habs    1

This game was over before it even started as the Isles came out flying and goalie Bob thought the first 10 minutes of the game was just a warm-up. When K. Connor netted his second of the playoffs at 9:18 of the first period the New Yorkers were already up 3-0 and the game went on cruise control from there. The Isles clearly took the "safe" approach the rest of the game trying to lock it down and it is very fortunate they have an elite tender backstopping them as the hometown Habs pounded the visitors 22-11 in shots the rest of the way. T. Bozak ended any thoughts of a miraculous comeback when he scored his second of the playoffs in the third to maintain a 3 goal cushion and deflate the surging Habs. Series tied at 2 heading back to the Isle

Pens     3

Jackets  2

McDavid, Benn, Tarasenko....period! All three scored, all are on the same top line, all three will either have to be contained or this series is done! Every GM in the league knows the Pens are a single shot pistol but man does that pistol have some punch and GM Jesse had better figure out a way to either beat up on the rest of this Pens team or to control the top line of Pittsburgh. To complicate things further for Columbus they have lost the services of their 3rd line two-way center in Anisimov for a week which is a week too long at this juncture. This is by no means to say Columbus played poorly in this affair as they actually outshot the visitors 30-28 and had plenty of chances of their own but they have to find a bit more if they hope to extend this series and move on. Pens lead 3-1

Bruins   3

Wings    1

HUGELY disappointing season for Wings fans as they watched their 100+ point team get broomed out of the playoffs. What was clearly disturbing about this game was the fact that Detroit mailed this game in despite being at home, getting outshot 29-12 for the game. YES, I SAID 12 shots....how the fck do you manage only 12 shots at home for a game you can/will be eliminated in? This game was such an embarrassment for this storied franchise I can't imagine what changes need to be made and to what level they will happen but that performance simply is not good enough! Let's not take anything away from the Bruins here, they did what they needed to do throughout the series and were the better team but what was expected to be a hard fought back and forth series was anything but! Bruins move forward with 4-0 sweep!

Sens    3

Tampa  4

Hey Steph, Tampa, Tampa, Tampa, You suck, Tampa, Tampa, Tampa, get your own son, Tampa, Tampa, Tampa, lmao. In the second straight game Tampa simply had to win they put together their best effort to date so far and actually stayed with the visiting Sens stride for stride for the entire 3 periods. Both teams had plenty of opportunities to score in this one with both having double-digit shots in all 3 periods but the key may have been the calming effect starting veteran net-minder M.Smith may have had on the largely out-played Tampa team to this point. Smith stopped 29 of 32 shots and out dueled M. Jones for the win and it will be interesting to see if GM Eric goes with the hot hand in the next game. It is expected that both back-ups may play in this one as both clubs starters are clearly wearing down and will not be 100% going into this next tilt. Series tied 2-2
