Daily Recap

All western series at 3-2

Preds    2

Flames  3

B. Holtby made his first start of the playoffs for Nashville, stood on his head for 3 periods but this was a determined group in Calgary he was facing and he couldn't stop them all enroute to a hard luck loss. Calgary peppered the Nashville goal all 3 periods and were rewarded with a hard earned goal in each having posted double-digit shots in each frame. R. Josi left this game in the third but it appears his injury is not serious and although he won't be 100% he is not expected to miss any time. In other good news for the Preds, it is expected Kari Lehtonen will be back in goal for game 6 as he looks less fatigued than he clearly was following his last start. The Preds are hoping to stop the wave Calgary is riding now and stave off elimination at home in game 6 and force a game 7 back in Calgary. Flames up 3-3

Kings    0

Knights  1

The second series that started out 2-0 for one team that has turned into a 3-2 deficit see's the Kings from LA heading home trying now to extend this series to 7. It isn't everyday that you see a starting goalie post a .968 save % and lose but leave it to GM Rumpel to find a way. In what has to be a discouraging turn of events, LA having one of the leagues best offenses can't score and only seems to be able to win when they are clearly getting blown out of the rink! Meanwhile GM Bast has to be smiling finally getting the results his team has worked for and deserved throughout this series. Filip Forsberg potted his 1st of the play-offs on the PP in the second period and that was it for this game. I am looking for a major shake-up to LA's line-up moving forward with this lack of production as R. Sheahan and C. Jarnkrok skating on the top line does not appear to be the answer! Vegas now up 3-2

Jets   2

Stars  1

Doctor Cunt has to be smiling following this result as if nothing else his team will get another home game and revenues to enjoy. In this "ho-hum" affair that lacked speed, scoring, intensity.....well pretty much everything that a playoff game should have the visiting Jets just hung around until the third period and snatched away a victory. Dallas had led the game since early in the second period but didn't have any finishing kick to their game and when the Jets scored early in the third to tie it, a game that was there for the taking was suddenly in peril. Brayden McNabb of all people got his first of the play-offs taking a puck off of the boards on a missed shot by JVR and banked it in on a surprised MAF for the winner with less then 4 minutes to go in regulation. Hard to say the Stars and GM Kato took this game for granted as they were the better team on the evening but they certainly didn't take advantage of their opportunity to be the first western team to advance. Jets will look to keep it going down 3-2 but heading home.

Hawks     3

Aves        1

Nolan and Bryce really are the same guy!!!! There is no disputing facts and I don't know how the fck Nolan could get only 12 shots on goal in a home play-off game and then Bryce only 16 in his next home game???? Huh? Huh? Time to come clean boys ( errrm Bryce)!! Lmao!  Again with this series....how much more weird shit can one expect from this match-up? The final shot total for this game was 57-16 in favor of the visiting Hawks and really the only point Colorado was in this game was when they were parking their cars before entering the arena! That obviously isn't entirely true as despite being outshot at one point 40-8 it was still only a 2-1 Hawk lead.  P. Rinne did all he could stopping 54 shots and maybe it would have been prudent to pull him as despite his heroics keeping Colorado close throughout he is most certainly not making the next start due to exhaustion. GM Yee is clearly in a good position following this "night off" as he will be starting "the King" at home for game 6 with the series at 3-2 Hawks and will look to exploit GM Shucks misfortune. This series was expected to be a battle and it hasn't disappointed.
