Daily Recap
Drunken Rich from Mexico
Isles 3
Pens 2
In a game the Penguins needed to have they simply couldn't score enough while the visitors from Long Island scored just enough. New York scored twice in the first and took that lead to the locker room before the Pens answered with 1 in the second to cut the lead to just 1 but the Isles added another early in the third to restore their 2 goal bulge and it was just too big of a deficit to overcome on this night. Andrei Vasilevskiy was outstanding in this game stopping 33 of 35 shots to get the win and put New York 1 win away from advancing now up 3 games to 1.
Bruins 4 OT
Bolts 3
Much like the Pens game this was a game the home side needed and Tampa met the same fate as Pittsburgh falling at home. Tampa played a very strong game from the outset but it was Boston that took the early advantage going up 3-1 at the end of a period. Tampa fought all game to rally and were rewarded for their efforts tieing the game in the third and forcing overtime but despite outshooting Boston 37-24 in regulation they never had a lead and once the puck dropped for that extra frame it was an exhausted home squad that took the ice. Boston dominated the extra frame outshooting Tampa 11-5 but more importantly got the game winner on a powerplay to take a commanding 3 games to 1 lead.
