Daily Recap
Isles 3
Pens 2
And out goes Toby!!!! With a less than 100% team, no McDavid, and a worn out C. Crawford the Pens were outgunned in this one. This game surprisingly went to the third period with the Pens holding a narrow 1 goal advantage but the Isles were the better team all evening outshooting Pittsburgh in all 3 periods and ended the game with a 38-21 edge. Isles were too deep and Pens too banged up to to continue to over achieve....Isles deservedly advance winning 4-2
Bruins 2
Bolts 7
In what was a somewhat predictable result with the Bolts getting a banged up Bruins squad being forced to start their back-up things went a little too poorly for GM Gregs liking and what may be the turning point for his entire season may have come because of it! As mentioned the Bruins were forced to start B. Elliott as starter F. Andersen was extremely fatigued and needing a night off for a potential game 7 but in what was a surprising error, after giving up 4 goals on just 8 shots the Bruins switched back to Andersen. Tampa would manage another 28 shots on goal leaving Andersen clearly struggling towards the end of the game and won't be close to 100% for a deciding game 7 leaving Boston with the horrible choice of starting a less then impressive back-up at 100% or a totally fatigued Andersen. This was a horrendous error by rookie GM Greg allowing this to happen in what has been an exceptional job to this point. This series is far from over with a deciding game still to be played but if Boston does fall this mistake could easily be the reson why....series back to Boston tied at 3
