East kicks off
Isles 4 OT
Bolts 3
The eastern conference finals kicked off with an overtime game just as the west did but this game was a little more one-sided than their conference counter-parts. After a scoreless, dead even first the second period turned into a offensive frenzy with 5 goals being scored and it was Tampa emerging with a 3-2 lead despite being outplayed and outshot 20-12 in the frame. The New Yorkers were not to be discouraged however and took control in the third period as well notching the only goal of the period to send this to overtime. Once again in overtime the visitors assumed control outshooting Tampa 8-3 before Kucherov potted is 2nd of the game and 8th of the playoffs to end it despite a strong effort from J.Quick and his 45 save performance. Of note for game 2 is the possible return of sniper A.Lee after he was spotted skating and practicing away from the team. It will be interesting to see if GM Ferr rushes him back into the line-up or waits another game to get him closer to 100% for his return. Isles lead 1-0
