Each Organization's Biggest Need
A summary
Colorado Avalanche - Try again.
The Avalanche are in a good position. They have a good core to build around, a good roster, some cap space and a decent amount of prospects/picks. The best thing for Bryce to do would be to try to win the cup again.
Blackhawks - Continue the rebuild.
Dave's rebuild is off to a good start, with more trades pending. He still has a very strong roster to either build around or trade for more futures. Either way, being rejuvinated with youth is probably the best thing for the Blackhawks, and seems to be the direction Dave is headed.
Blue Jackets - Retain Bishop.
Use that 10% loyalty and retain Bishop. This is a good, young team and will continue to be for years. Pay Bishop and see what happens. He could very well lead the Blue Jackets to a cup.
Blues - Rig the sims.
The only way the Blues are competing this year is if Eric chooses to rig the sims. So do that. But in all seriousness, a rebuild seems to be in order here for St. Louis. There are some pieces that could fetch serious returns; looking towards the future is likely Eric's best option.
Bruins - Stop being a bum.
Greg, your window will be closing in a couple years. Take this roster, add to it, retain who you can, and win a cup. If you need help, ask Junya, who has figured out the sim. In all seriousness, aside from maybe taking a step back in 2021, this team will be really good for a long time. Don't fuck it up. And stop being a bum, Greg.
Canadiens - Keep doing what you're doing.
Pick a goalie, deal the other. Aside from that, keep coasting along. This team always seems to be competitive and has maintained a bright future. Whatever you're doing Steve, keep doing it.
Canucks - Continue rebuilding.
Unfortunately, Rob is a year late to making the homer pick, but at least he's starting to develop a core to build around. Keep the rebuild going, make good draft picks. You're years away from competing.
Capitals - Be a homer.
Larry, don't fuck around. Take Kravtsov if he falls to you and enjoy his production for years on what should be a loaded Rangers team. Get as many Rangers as you can and don't look back. Don't worry about what the league says. Follow your heart.
Coyotes - Continue the rebuild.
Joel, your team sucks this year. Rebuild for another year or two and it'll be a different story. You seem to be headed in the right direction, don't pull a Devon. Stick with it.
Devils - Trade everything for youth.
Wow did last year suck for New Jersey. This team needs an overhaul. Get out from some of those gross contracts, get some prospects and we'll see you in a couple years.
Ducks - Build around the key 3.
It is tough to find a better trio to build around than McDavid, Pettersson & Gibson. Ducks need to do exactly that. Build around those guys.
Flames - Keep doing what you always have.
This team is always competitive, always has the brightest of futures and always has the picks to make the future even brighter. The Flames can do whatever they want for years. So do that, Kevin. Do whatever you want.
Flyers - Continue rebuilding.
Anthony's Flyers actually have quite a bright future. It's a few years away due to retentions and the roster to build around, but it's bright. Draft well, keep adding picks and you'll be in great shape in a few years.
Golden Knights - See what happens.
This team is good on paper. See what the sim thinks and adjust accordingly. Joe rebuilt the proper way and should reap the benefits of that sooner than later.
Hurricanes - Establish a future.
Please, for the love of God, if the season doesn't start well, don't try and tweak the roster. A little rebuild really wouldn't hurt. Prospects are nice. They really are. See how the season starts and adjust accordingly.
Islanders - Do anything.
God, this league is so much fun. But you're missing out on the best parts of it, Joe. Your team wasn't far off, and isn't far off this year. Don't be afraid to make a trade or two. It's fun and can help you get better.
Jets - Compete or take a step back.
The roster really isn't great right now. Nylander's situation really sucks. Either add to this roster to compete or take a step back and re-tool for a year. Otherwise you're looking at another mid 1st pick and no success.
Kings - Decide early on what you want out of this year.
There is a good roster to build around and there will be for a while. Either take a step back and re-tool or go all in. You can't really go wrong either way.
Lightning - Continue with your plan.
Eric, congrats on a great season so far. As for next year, it's not looking as good. Continue with your plan to trade some of the guys on your block and re-tool.
Maple Leafs - Keep rebuilding, don't hold Doughty too long.
Garrett's price on Doughty needs to drop just a bit (it really isn't that bad) and he needs to deal him before he loses more value like Schneider did. That aside, the rebuild is looking good. Just drop the prices, take what you can get and continue what you're doing. It's working.
Oilers - Keep rebuilding.
Have a good draft, trade your veterans and keep the rebuild going. There will eventually be a really good roster in Edmonton, it just won't be that soon.
Panthers - Keep compiling those picks.
Florida is doing things right with this rebuild. Just keep it going and don't rush it. The future is bright.
Penguins - Build around your core.
There is a nice core of players in Pittsburgh, and some nice prospects now too. Keep accumulating the prospects and build around the good young players that you have. If not, trade Bob. The return will be nice.
Predators - Just do what you do.
Shedz, you seem to have this thing figured out. Your roster is looking good for next year, again. Keep competing, you always seem to find a way. I trust that you will again.
Rangers - Get active.
PJ, there is a nice core here to build around. Do it. Put your stamp on the team this year and move forward.
Red Wings - Re-sign your RFAs.
Nolan, re-sign your RFAs. They're good players. Then compete again, because your team is good. Come on, it'll be fun.
Sabres - Continue the rebuild.
Keep rebuilding, Jared. And don't draft someone who may never be able to play again this year. Also, trade Duchene.
Senators - Learn that picks don't bite, they help.
If things don't go well this year, don't be afraid to trade your players for picks. It's like how you traded all your picks for players, except backwards.
Sharks - Draft Dahlin. Also, don't draft Kotkaniemi at 1.
Just draft Dahlin and move forward. Lots of work to be done here, and he'd be a good piece to build around.
Stars - Hire Dan as AGM.
This team is good, but there's a little housekeeping to be done after the year. Hire Dan to do it for you. Or, you know, do it yourself. In all seriousness, should be many good years in the Stars future.
Stoners - Draft Svech or take my offer.
Ya, Rex. You heard me. Draft Svech or take my offer for him. Either way, you'll be better for it and you know that. The Stoners will eventually be really good. Keep it going.
Wild - Get your hands dirty this year.
Rebuilds are a lot of work. Keep plugging away, Al. Also, learn prospects. They're a key part of any rebuild and there seems to be a lot of them you don't know.
