Cup Kick-off
Stars 4 OT
Bolts 3
The BRHL championship kicked off in style with a thrilling overtime tilt and both teams doing a bit of everything....we had some scoring, some strong goaltending, and 1 key power-play goal. After just about 2 periods were in the books it looked as if the hometown Bolts were going to take a lead into the third but a undisciplined penalty from the hardly used Andrew Shaw (only 6:59 TOI) gave Dallas a late period opportunity they would take advantage of. After the Stars tied the game it was an extremely energetic team that took the ice in the third and put it on Tampa to the tune of a 13-4 shot advantage but J. Quick held the fort forcing the game to overtime. Tampa came out for overtime in a much better fashion and had the better of the play for the most part but the game changed following some stellar play from M. Scheifele. After heading out for a defensive zone faceoff and winning that draw the Stars moved out of the zone and 2 quick passes later it was Scheifele getting it back and ripping the game winner past a stunned J.Quick to silence the crowd. Dallas steals home ice and leads 1-0
