2. Stoners F Andrei Svechnikov

All 20 goals in his rookie year in the NHL were even strength.   Sniper to build around. 

3. Penguins (via Ducks) F Brady Tkachuk

Tkachuk could receive some serious considersation at #2 as well.   Brings a solid all around game with room for improvement. 

4. Flames (via Panthers) F Vitali Kravtsov

Kevin moves Barzal for several picks and jumps in front of Larry to grab the skilled Russian.  Signed, sealed and delivered expected to compete for the Calder Trophy this season for Rangers. 

5. Canucks (via Maple Leafs)  D Quinn Hughes

After trading up 1 spot (2nd / 5th round pick flip), Canucks get their man.  Hughes is a top pairing D to build around for years to come.  Skating and hockey sense at an elite level. 

6. Capitals (via Maple Leafs via Canucks) F Filip Zadina

Larry selects a solid forward prospect, but is disappointed to see Kravstov selected in front of him after trading up 1 selection last week.  Could Larry get higher in the draft to get his guy? 

7. Maple Leafs (via Capitals) F Jesperi Kotkaniemi

Could the Maple Leafs move down again?   Or is this where they end up and select?  If they do select, the sliding Kotkaniemi could be a Leaf.   The team has done well the last 2 drafts picking players who slid in the BRHL2 draft, adding Pierre-Luc Dubois and Cody Glass.  Leading up to the draft, Toronto has already made 2 trades to add assets as they rebuild.  The Maple Leafs traded the 5th overall pick, the 134th overall pick, prospects Grant Mishmash, Filip Larson and Artur Kayumov in exchange for 7th overall,  the 52nd overall pick, 2020 4th round pick, G Malcolm Subban, F Adam Erne.  

8. Wild D Evan Bouchard

I could see making a move down to add assets.  Team already has Fleury and Brannstrom to build around and add another great D with Bouchard who will be a top 4 D for 15 years in the NHL.   Elite hockey IQ.

9. Oilers D Noah Dobson

Surprised to see him drop in the NHL.   Skilled and smart defender who like Bouchard will be in the NHL for a decade as a top 4 defenceman. 

10.Flyers F Barrett Hayton

Hayton was a surprise top 5 pick in the NHL but remains a top 10 pick in the BRHL2.

11. Sabres D Rasmus Sandin

Sandin has been flying up the draft board after a very good rookie AHL season after being the 29th overall pick of the NHL Maple Leafs last June. 

12. Blues D Adam Boqvist

20 goals and 40 assists in 54 games in London in his first year in North America. Super skilled puck moving D. 

13.  Coyotes F Oliver Wahlstrom

Okay season at Boston College but joined the exodus of NHL prospects to sign after the season was over. 2 goals and an assist in 5 AHL playoff games after signing. 

14. Stoners (via Devils) F Joel Farabee

With Svechnikov in hand, Rex adds another high end forward. Farabee could easily go higher than 14.   Talented forward scored 17 goals in his freshman year at Boston University. 

15. Oilers (via Hurricanes) F Grigori Denisenko

Selected D Evan Bouchard at 9, select a possible steal at 15.  Playing against his peers at the WJC, Denisenko scored 4 goals and added 5 assists in 7 games. 

16. Rangers D Ty Smith

Elite skating D who average more than a point per game in the Western League again. 

17. Oilers (via Blue Jackets) F Isac Lundestrom

After selecting Bouchard, and Denisenko the Oilers happy to select Lundestrom who surprised many by making the Ducks out of camp last season. 

18. Flyers (via Jets) F Ty Dellandrea

Selected Hayton 10th overall after his slide, gets another player who slides to him. Dellandrea was a point per game centre for the Firebirds in the OHL this season. 

19. Sabres (via Penguins) F Liam Foudy

Selected Boqvist earlier, add potential scorer in Foudy.  Scored 36 goals in his 2nd season in London.  

20. Avalanche (via Blackhawks)  F Martin Kaut 

Came over to play in AHL after NHL Draft.  Had a great rookie season in AHL with 12 goals and 14 assists.

21.  Rangers (via Kings) F Rasmus Kupari

Selected D Ty Smith at 16.  Could see this pick moved to add assets.  Good season for Karpat in Liiga.  I’m sure Miikka will come calling as soon as he’s selected. 

22. Stoners (via Red Wings) F Dominik Bokk 

Stoners keep adding assets with 3rd pick of the 1st round.   If the right offer is made could see them trade down to add more.  

23.  Sabres (via Canadiens) F Serron Noel

Huge body that could dominate corners in the NHL. Increased numbers for the 3rd straight OHL season finishing with 34 goals and 47 assists for Generals this eason. 

24. Coyotes (via Golden Knights) D Bode Wilde

After selecting Oliver Wahlstrom at 13, the Coyotes add a quality 200 foot defender.   Wilde had a strong rookie OHL season with 19 goals and 51 assists for the Saginaw Spirit. 

25. Flyers (via Avalanche) D K’Andre Miller

With Dellandrea and Hayton already selected this could be a target for a team looking to get into the first rouhd.   If they make the pick, Miller is a project but he could turn into a steal.   5 goals and 17 assists as a freshman at Wisconsin. 

26. Canucks (via Flames) D Jared McIsaac 

Selected Hughes 5th overall.   Could see them move down here to acquire a pick to replace the pick used to move up to select Hughes.  Quality development year for McIsaac saw him score 16 goals and 46 assists and lead his team into the Quebec league finals and Memorial Cup as host team. 

27. Penguins (via Senators) F Ryan McLeod

Brother of Sabres prospect Michael McLeod.   Split his time between re-stocking Mississauga team and Saginaw in OHL.   Expect a big rebound this season. 

28. Rangers (via Bruins) F Joe Veleno

Rangers swing for the fences.  Uber talented but uber injury prone.   Which Joe Veleno will we see moving forward?

29. Predators D Ryan Merkley

An enigma. Super talented player who some teams removed from the NHL draft board after terrible interviews.  Will he get his head straight and become a steal at this stage of draft?

33. Islanders D Nicolas Beaudin

Another sub 6’ puck moving D.  Smart reliable defenceman who should be expected to eventually be a top 4 defender who can contribute on the power play.

31. Wild (via Lightning) F Benoit-Oliver Groulx

Like pick 30,  could see one or both of these picks traded in an effort to move way up in the draft.  Another player with hockey blood lines. Solid year in Halifax with 31 goals and 49 assists.

32. Wild (via Stars) D Mattias Samuelsson

2nd pick of round, (Dobson @ 8) and 1st of back to back selections .  Could see one or both of these picks traded in an effort to move way up in the draft. Family bloodlines as is the son of former NHL D Kjell Samuelsson
