Best & Worst of BRHL Draft

Summary of BRHL Draft 2019

*Note* When I use the term "value", specifically in 'value pick' sections, I don't mean based on where they could/should have gone in BRHL. I mean best player based on their BRHL draft position. It doesn't matter how much they fell/climbed based on NHL draft.

*Also Note* Just because your player may not be listed, doesn't mean at all that I don't think it's a good pick.

Best Draft Haul: People will argue for their own teams, and some have reason to, but Seattle made out really well here. Regardless of whether or not Bryce's draft list helped, Rex made some spectacular picks of his own. Headlined by Dahlin, this group of top picks will likely go down in Seattle history and this draft crop will likely be considered the (main) reason for Seattle's future success.

Best Value Pick (1st Round): A case can be made for a few guys here, but Rasmus Kupari was definitely the one that stood out to me (and hurt) the most. In my eyes, he's arguably a top 5 player in this draft. Rex has to feel fantastic about getting him at 14. Other notables: Dominik Bokk, Martin Kaut, Bode Wilde, Ty Dellandrea

Best Value Pick (2nd Round): Again, a case can be made for a few guys. One pick that I absolutely loved was Filip Hallander at 55. For a guy who claims he doesn't know prospects, this was one hell of a pick by Al. Hallander's production in the Swedish league points in the direction of a successful NHL career down the road. Great value at 55. Other Notables: Nils Lundkvist, Ryan McLeod, Ryan Merkley, Nicholas Beaudin

Best Value Pick (3rd Round): This, to me, is a great spot in the draft to start looking at goalies. We all know how valuable they are, and PJ seems to understand it already. Samuel Ersson may be stuck behind Hart in Philadelphia, but he won't be stuck forever if he keeps playing as he did last year. Goalies are never a sure thing at this stage, but I really liked the Ersson pick. Other Notables: Jakub Skarek, Jack McBain, Alexander Khavonov, Lukas Dostal

Worst Draft Haul (Value): I actually liked a couple of his picks, but yikes. Seems as though Canucks GM kinda mailed it in once he knew he was losing his Canuck once again. I do feel bad for Rob here, as he got screwed pretty good. Multiple players overdrafted in the early rounds, though. Something I can unfortunately relate to and notice.

Late Round Value: Jesper Sellgren, Blake Jenkins, Tye Felhaber, Linus Karlsson are some familiar names and picks in the later rounds that I really liked.

Worst Early Draft Pick: Jett Woo was a stunning draft pick. He could still pan out, as could every player drafted, but at 26, yikes. I didn't like the Tyler Madden pick at all either, but Jett Woo takes the cake here.

To briefly summarize, Rex had an excellent draft. Bryce, Kevin, others will get their value out of this draft, as they always do. Many other teams such as Anaheim & Philadelphia will have multiple good NHLers come out of this draft. And of course, there's so much unknown. It should be (like all other drafts) a lot of fun to look back on this one.
