Playoff Daily Recap

Defense anyone?

Hawks   1

Vegas    4

Vegas kicked off this years version of the playoffs with an exciting first period, took a commanding 3-0 lead to the second and all but secured the victory. The home win for LV looked convincing enough but there will be some "chalk talk" material for the coaching staff and things to clean up if they want to continue into these playoffs. Despite this loss GM Yee and the Hawks have to feel encouraged following this result as they took complete control of the second period and outshot Vegas for the game 43-40. This was simply a case of Rinne outplaying Lehner but hopefully for Vegas this won't have to be the case going forward. Hawks look to even up in game 2.

Kings    5

Oilers   6 (OT)

GM Rumpy and his Kings are like the turd that doesn't flush this season. Everyone writes him/them off and somehow they float back up from the dead. Luckily for the Oilers on this night Rumpy ran out of lives and the Oilers secured a well deserved win. The Oilers came out of the gates and outskated, outshot, and outplayed LA to the tune of a 31-17 two period shot advantage yet went to the dressing room tied at 3. LA despite being outplayed yet again in the third scored 2 goals in an 8 second span and looked poised to steal game 1 with 7 minutes remaining but then it was the Oilers turn to not flush scoring twice of their own and forcing the extra frame. Antti Raanta was just awesome in this game stopping 42 regulation shots and 6 more in overtime before fatigue had to be getting the better of him and he allowed the game winner to Mikael Backlund at 8:46. Oil up 1-0

Wild    2

Jets     3 (DOT)

The Jets started off their playoffs with an expected win over the revamped Wild making a somewhat unexpected first venture into the playoffs. With two of the lesser offenses in these playoffs it was expected to be low event and low scoring with solid goaltending and that is exactly what we got in this one. The shots ended 42-37 in favor of the home side, which appears to be high but this game went 4+ periods and was played very evenly by the Jets throughout averaging 10 shots per period. No team wants to have to go deep into games come playoffs with fatigue and injuries always on the horizon but at least GM Doc Cunt got the "W" to make it feel better. GM Al will look for some offense and try again in game 2.

Stars   3

Av's    6

GM Junyas Stars took the ass-kicking we all hoped for and this series is over!!! Errrrmmmm, well Bryce won..........errrrmmmmm......the score says Bryce won....thats it.....Bryce won! In the tilted ice game of the night the sim got the boxscores backwards.....or something like that! This game started with Colorado building a 4-0 lead on 7 shots and Ben Bishop pulled....it was over....but this game was anything but the lopsided victory it appeared to be. Dallas actually outshot Colorado in all 3 periods and 40-29 overall so this game could have been the complete opposite. The Av's know that Bishop is not going to play this poorly going forward so the coaching staff will have a "chalk talk" of their own to clean that shit up......PLEASE!!!!  Av's up 1-0
