Playoff Daily Recap

Hawks    2

Vegas     1

Chicago came into this game needing a win or at least something to build off of before heading home and got both of those things. In a surprise move GM Bast started his back-up tender and it appeared to fire up Chicago as they put 16 shots on goal and scored....that was the good news.....the bad news was that it was only good enough for a 1-1 tie. After a complete and utter display of nothingness that was the second period the third period at least provided some entertainment for the crowd in attendance as both teams played an even and somewhat inspired frame with Chicago managing the only goal. Despite the loss P. Mrazek played well stopping 29 of 31 shots but the rest of the team was a no-show only managing 24 shots of their own. We will be looking for a more lively tilt with the series heading to Chicago tied 1-1

Kings   1

Oilers  4

LA came into this game trailing the series 1-0 and were looking for a more even game on the road to force a split. That was exactly what GM Rumpy got as the teams traded shots and opportunities all game long but unfortunately for the Kings the same Antti Raanta didn't show up in goal. This game ended with both teams having 29 shots on goal but the veterans on the Oilers came through while the youth of LA couldn't as all 4 Oiler goals were scored by playoff vets. With the return to LA they hope that a raucus crowd may get the youngsters legs moving but hopefully it isn't Mcdavids of this series will be over before it starts. Oilers up 2-0

Wild  4 (OT)

Jets   3

Someone (ME) said before this series started that the Wilds only chance to move forward was is if Dubnyk could outplay Price. Minnesota got off to a dream start potting 2 goals on just 6 shots and took that advantage to the second where the dream started to turn into a nightmare. Winnipeg replied with 2 goals of their own in the second and when they scored again in the third to take the lead it appeared that Minny had wasted their opportunity. To the Wilds credit they answered to force overtime and the only shot of the extra frame was the only shot needed as B. Coburn scored on the PP to steal the win. D. Dubnyk stopped 32 shots in the win and will need to continue that strong play for their success to continue. Back to Minny tied at 1

Av's    4

I am beginning to wonder after all these years if the button pushers around this league just keep hitting resim until Bryce is involved in something bizarre. After game 1 what to expect from game 2? Well, GM Shuck started his back-up which was curious and the team responded by putting 15 shots on goal and taking a 1-0 lead to the dressing room. Ok, no biggie there so next period the Av's put 16 shots on goal yet somehow get outscored 4-0.....huh? The Av's put 31 shots on goal thru 2 with that line-up and have 1 goal so more of the same in the third I guess? Nope, apparently the AV's have nothing left in the tank and Dallas scores to make it a 4 goal cushion and it is over! Nope, Colorado manages just 8 shots in the third and nets 3 to force Dallas to hang on by their fingernails ....like wtf? I guess someone on the bench told the boys to not hit the goalie??? I don't know, I give up....every year this happens to Bryce and breaking down his sims requires a degree in fortune telling! Anyways, series tied at 1 headed to Big D
