Going into this series GM Rich was quoted as saying "we actually want to face Montreal in round 1" as all the other match-ups were equally as tough. The one bright spot that Carolina was focused on was the apparent goaltending advantage that the higher rated Greiss could provide. Well, so much for that as Greiss went 1-4 in these playoffs and completely shit the bed in this 1. GM Steve and his Habs had been a bit better throughout the series and could have already advanced but heading to Game 7 all bets were off. This was simply a game Montreal didn't deserve . After a very even first period that saw the hometown Habs net the only goal Carolina took complete control of the second period posting 21 shots but somehow Montreal added 2 more goals on just 8 more shots to take a 3-0 lead to the break. When Montreal scored just 36 seconds in the third to go up 4-0 the air completely left the Hurricane bench and this was over. J.Binnington was sensational stopping 35 shots while Greiss made 15 fckn saves before getting the hook taking the loss. Habs take game 7 but had better wake up in round 2 !
