Playoff Daily Recap

West Semi's

Oilers    3

Vegas   4 (OT)

Edmonton rolled into Las Vegas riding high after a 4 game broom job of LA and to say they seemed a bit off would be fairly accurate. Vegas looked more ready to start the series and jumped on the Oilers in the first getting 2 on the board roughly halfway in but Edmonton was able to sneak 1 back before the buzzer to settle them in a bit. The second period was more the norm for both squads as they traded chances with both teams netting 1 and headed for a barnburner of a third. Well, Vegas had other thoughts about a barnburner third and completely sucked the life out of the game limiting Edmonton to just 4 shots on goal....it was a perfect third period except 1 actually went in to send the game to overtime. With the game basically starting over Vegas once again came out fast and a little over 1 minute in got the game winner. P. Rinne got the win despite not being overly sharp stopping 21-24 shots and moving to 5-1 overall in these playoffs. Edmonton gets another shot to steal home ice trailing 1-0

Wild    3

Stars   6

Ouch!!!  So we all looked at the score and thought "Knew Junya would kill Al in this series" and then we looked at the boxscore.....wtf is that?? The Dallas Stars, built on defense and special teams that just choked the life out of the fast and furious AV's enroute to this series gave up 38 shots through 2 periods alone in this 1??? It took GM Al's Wild a game and 3 overtimes to get that many and he puts 38 on Dallas in 2 periods??? I guess we are back to the good thing Junya got a goalie line again as the only reason he got this win, let alone a blowout, was because B.Bishop stole it. Weird that a higher rated goalie would play well, but I digress! The good news for GM Junya was besides the fact his goalie played great was that his shooters were also on point for this and took advantage of their opportunities. At no point did Dallas trail in this game and when only up a goal headed to the third they were able to totally shut down the Wild limiting them to just 6 shots! Not sure what more GM Al could expect from this group but hopefully for him his shooters can get some more puck-luck or he can get some better tending of his own or this will end quickly. Dallas up 1-0
