Playoff Daily Recap

CBJ    3 (OT)

Isles   2

This game may have been decided in overtime but this game wasn't close at all. It isn't very often that you can say that the Isles didn't even belong on the ice but tonight was one of those times. The first period was pretty even with the lone talley being a PP marker to put Columbus up 1-0 but the second period was one the Isles and their fans would like to forget! Columbus took complete control outshooting the home team 15-1 but more importantly only outscoring them 1-0 for the second straight period! The stellar play of A.Vasilevskiy kept the Isles within striking distance of CBJ and he was rewarded by his team very quickly in the third when they netted 2 goals in under the first 7 minutes to tie things back up. Somehow this game would wind up going to overtime despite the Isles being outshot 39-22 to that point tied at 2. They say all's well that ends well so I guess CBJ will be happy to take the win but this could have been disasterous for them had the Isles managed to steal this game away. Series tied at 1 heading to Columbus.

Sens    2

Habs    5

Wow.....wtf is going on with the Sens? Let's not all get ahead of ourselves and write Ottawa off just yet when they haven't even played a home game but to this point Carolina looked a helluva lot better against the Habs then the powerhouse Sens do! This game basically ended when the first period did as Montreal had built a 4-0 lead and chased starter D.Kuemper. Ottawa did show some life the rest of the game managing to outscore the Habs 2-1 but it wasn't nearly enough to even make the home side sweat a bit. We all know that Ottawa can score....and score alot...but against teams that can also score trading chances may not be a good thing as J.Binnington is proving he is up to the task. Montreal posted double-digit shots in all three periods so they didn't just sit back on their early lead which can spell doom for teams trying to find more offense of their own. GM Steph will look for some better goaltending and some puck luck heading back to Ottawa down 2-0
