Playoff Daily Recap

Vegas    4

Oilers   5 (2OT)

This was a game the Oilers had to have to realistically have a shot at winning this series and they found a way to get it! Edmonton stormed out of the gate in front of the home crowd and got the games first goal but the great start quickly vanished when Vegas answered with 2 goals of their own. The second period came and went with more bad news for the home side as they surrendered another 2 goals to trail 4-1 heading into the break despite outshooting the opposition 29-27 to that point. In a somewhat surprising move C.Hellebuyck came out to start the third and what a great decision it was to leave him in by the coaching staff as Edmonton stormed back with 3 unanswered goals including the last with the net empty. By the time this game ended the Edmonton netminder had made 30 more saves after allowing the 4th goal and went from the goat to the hero in the process. The only downside to this game for GM Bast and his Knights was the final score as they weathered the early storm, got some early offense, and got stronger as the game went on. After a solid performance like that on the road I wouldn't expect many changes and on the flipside GM Leon will be happy with the win but will look to slow down the Vegas offense a bit more as allowing 57 shots against isn't usually a good recipe for success! Edmonton climbs back into it trailing 2-1

Wild     2

Well, not much to say here.....Junya got Junya'd.....in a complete snorefest Dallas rolled into Minnesota up 2 games to none and looked the part! There was little to no urgency in their play and they appeared to expect the Wild to just hand them the win. GM AL and his team had other ideas however and suffocated the life out of the game after scoring on an early PP and it was like the 2 teams switched roles. D.Dubnyk had a pretty easy time of it only facing 25 shots for the shutout while B.Bishop played well stopping 27 shots in the loss. As was predicted (by me), for this Wild team to have a chance at the upset they needed to get an early lead and force Dallas to play from behind, thus taking them out of their desired style of play! On this night the Wild did just that and will look to even things up in game 4. Dallas still up 2-1
