The Eastern Finals kicked off in Columbus this evening but it wasn't the result anyone was expecting. While I don't think that any games between these 2 powerhouse teams can be predicted I think it is fair to assume that these games and series will be close throughout! This game was even from start to finish with both teams trading chances and the shots tied at 32 but J.Markstrom had an uncharacteristically poor evening allowing all 5 goals on just 22 shots against to that point. T. Rask came in and shut the door but the damage was done and home ice stolen in the process. D. Kuemper was his usual solid self stopping 30 shots for the win while T.Seguin was the offensive star with a pair of goals and an assist. GM Steph and the Sens draw first blood up 1-0
