Playoff Daily Recap
CBJ 1
Sens 3
Well, just when it looked like the book was closing on Ottawas season Cal Fn Petersen comes off the bench to steal a win and keep the dreams alive. The hometown Senators had everything go right from the get-go jumping on the visiting Columbus Bluejackets to the tune of a 2 goal first period. That lead was all Ottawa needed as once Petersen settled in he was rock solid only allowing a third period goal. That goal allowed Columbus to make it close until "the sniper" Marc Staal ended any hopes of a comeback with an empty netter to seal it. This was by no means an easy game for the Senators as after the first period ended Columbus was the better team outshooting their opposition in the two remaining periods and overall 32-28. T.Rask was also solid in goal for Columbus only allowing the 2 goals against but once Ottawa got up by 2 early it was going to be a tough comeback and on this night was unattainable. As Petersen now has a record of 3-1 in these playoffs it will be an interesting decision for GM Steph on who will start in Game 5 as Kuemper will still be slightly fatigued. If Kuemper starts and gets shelled he likely won't be a go for Game 6 whereas if he sits Game 5 he likely would be available for Game 6 and 7 if required! Columbus on the other hand will have the option of starting either goalie at 100% the remainder of the way.....things are still interesting now tied at 2
