BRHL Mock Draft

BRHL Mock Draft 2020

1. Penguins - Jack Hughes

I expect Toby to take Hughes at # 1.

2. Red Wings - Bowen Byram

If what Dan said in chat is true (I'm skeptical) - Byram will go here.

3. Capitals - Kappo Kakko

If Kakko is there at 3, Larry may have a heart attack. Let's hope he doesn't and can celebrate landing Kakko at 3.

4. Canucks - Kirby Dach

The Canucks need help everywhere, and Dach has already proven himself to be a good NHLer. I can't imagine the Canucks let him slip further.

5. Maple Leafs - Trevor Zegras

I suspect Garrett may wind up picking elsewhere, but if he stays at 5, I could see Zegras going here.

6. Flyers - Alex Turcotte

I don't think Anthony tries to get too fancy here. I expect Turcotte will be his BPA and go here.

7. Sabres - Dylan Cozens

Jared's pick is a tough one to predict. There were no OHLers taken in this range in NHL, which makes this that much tougher. I am going with Cozens here, but wouldn't be shocked by anything.

8. Flames - Moritz Seider

Kevin goes with Seider here, the first of many 1st rounders for him.

9. Flyers - Cam York

Anthony goes with his Flyer at 9, adding a defenseman to go with his forward taken thus far.

10. Avalanche - Philip Broberg

Bryce is anything but a homer when it comes to drafting (usually), but I'm hoping he is a homer here.

11. Flames - Vasili Podkolzin

The Flames grab the talented forward here before he slips any further.

12. Blues - Sam Poulin

I had a tough time convincing myself that Eric would grab Poulin here, but maybe he will.

13. Panthers - Victor Soderstrom

The Panthers need help everywhere, and Soderstrom certainly will help.

14. Flames - Cole Caufield

I don't know why, but I could see Caufield going to Kevin here.

15. Coyotes - Peyton Krebs

Again, I'm putting faith into what's been said in BRHL chat. Probably not a good idea. But maybe.

16. Flyers - Matthew Boldy

Anthony loves his Americans, and grabs another talented forward here.

17. Flames - Spencer Knight

Whether he goes here or at 14, I could see Kevin taking him. Eventually, he'll have to hang on to one of his stud goalie prospects. Knight could be the one.

18. Blackhawks - Alex Newhook

Truthfully, I have no idea who Dave (or anyone really) will pick. I could see Newhook here.

19. Devils - Tobias Bjornfot

Devils pick up Bjornfot, who surprisingly had a cup of coffee with the Kings last year.

20. Blackhawks - Ville Heinola

Similar to Bjornfot, Heinola spent some time with his NHL club last year, even being featured on the powerplay (due to injuries in Jets org) and looked good.

21. Devils - Simon Holmstrom

Devils pick up the Swedish forward at 21.

22. Blackhawks - Thomas Harley

Hawks add Harley to bolster their D core of the future.

23. Lightning - Connor McMichael

The Lightning grab the skilled McMichael at 23 if he's still there.

24. Blues - Philip Tomasino

Blues grab the talented forward at 24.

25. Sabres - Ryan Suzuki

Jared takes a shot on the ultra skilled playmaker, hoping he adds size and effort to his game.

26. Penguins - Nils Hoglander

The first of a couple 2nd round risers goes to Toby at 26.

27. Oilers - Jakob Pelletier

Leon sticks to his western ways, grabbing the Flames prospect at 27.

28. Islanders - Nolan Foote

How does Joe still have his 1st? I don't know, but he takes the goal scoring power forward at 28.

29. Red Wings - Nick Robertson

Dan takes his beloved Leaf, who destroyed the OHL this year and vastly improved his BRHL draft stock.

30. Devils - John Beecher

Tim grabs the Bruins first round forward here.

31. Sabres - Arthur Kaliyev

Jared loves his OHLers, and gets the super skilled American here.

32. Red Wings - Shane Pinto

Dan wraps up the first round, grabbing world junior standout Shane Pinto.
