Daily Recap

Jets    5

Vegas  4

Willy (don't call me Bill) Nylander and Carey Price were on a mission on this night refusing to drop another game to the hometown Knights. This was a game that should not have gone the way of the visitors and the displeasure was heard all the way in the press box as the players left the ice. "Are you fucking kidding me?" and "they didn't belong on the ice with us" were just 2 of the quotes heard by those at rinkside and in large part were true. Vegas headed to the third period trailing the visitors from "the Peg" 4-3 despite pumping 37 shots on goal to that point and controlling a large part of the game. The one blemish to that point in the game were the 2 PP goals surrendered after finally regrouping to take a lead of their own only to hand it right back. Hope still sprang eternal for the hometown Knights however as 1 solid period of hockey could fix a bad situation but W. Nylander pottted his 4th of the game (yes 4th of the game) to once again put Vegas in a hole. F. Forsberg replied late in the third on his 6th shot of the game to breathe some life back into the crowd but with the net empty C. Price closed the door making his 42nd save to preserve the win. With the series now tied at 1 the Jets will look to ride the hot goalie while Vegas will look to the hockey gods for a little better puck luck! On to "the Peg" for game 3

Oilers    4

Ducks    2

J. Halak....13:55 played....9 shots against....4 goals against....pulled !!! Recap over! McDavid with zero points thru 2 games and Draisaitl with 1 assist....hard to imagine either team doing a better job against these 2 yet Devons Ducks need to do something fast to turn the tide. Neither team should be up 2-0 but the Oilers are and headed home looking to extend that lead.

Kings     3

Aves      2

This is how a playoff sim should look! Did GM Rumpy and special assistant Sumit find the magic recipe or is this just a blip on the radar? Either way this game featured back and forth action with neither team ever gaining a clear advantage over the other and at the end of the day boiled down to who wanted it more or who had puck luck. This evening it was the visitors from LA getting the nod to even things up. It was noticed however that despite the win goalie A. Raanta was extremely exhausted and his status for next game is unclear while the Aves likely will have either goalie available for a game 3 start. The Kings managed to get what they wanted in a split and will head home and deal with the roster later! Series tied at 1

Stars    6

Hawks  4

Errrrmmmm.....2 talented teams set up to play a tight defensive style of game = 6 to 4???? This game had offense to spare and after 2 periods both teams had put 4 up on the board and was there for the taking. After dropping game 1 it was clear that Dallas wanted this one way more once the puck dropped to start the third as the Stars put 18 shots on the Hawk net and pining them in their own end when not shooting allowing only 4 shots against. Like some of the other series goalie fatigue is starting to play a role as it is unlikely that M. Koskinen will be available while B.Bishop is listed as questionable for game 3. Strategy is looking to become more of a factor then just icing the best team this year but regardless of who plays this series is going back to Big D tied at 1.
