Daily Recap

Vegas   2 OT

Jets     1

This "thriller" took into the extra frame to decide and fittingly it was a defenseman that ended when A. Edler potted his first of the playoffs to secure the win for the visitors. This game was a perfect blueprint for how a road team should play a playoff game as the Jets were simply bottled up the whole game while Vegas stole little victories all over the ice to remain in complete control throughout. The only problem was that C.Price simply would not allow those little victories to add up to goals and when the Jets scored on the PP halfway through the third it was looking grim for the visitors from Vegas. To Vegas credit they stuck with it and tied it up less then 2 minutes after falling behind to force the extra frame. Of note in this one is Vegas use of goalies as now both will be 100% for game 4 while the Jets will have to use an already fatigued C.Price or risk using a 100% healthy "King" for the pivitol game. Vegas leads 2-1

Ducks     6

Oilers     3

The dynamic duo of McDavid and Draisaitl hooked up again in this one and once again neither were really seen thru a period of play. The good news for Oiler fans was that apparently they get more then enough from everyone else on the team and have won both games virtually without McDavid. The Oilers were poised once again to do just that jumping out to a 3-0 lead a little over a half a period in with starting goalie J. Halak eerily looking at the bench to see if the hook was coming for him yet again! Strangely, starting a game down 3-0 after trailing a series 2-0 was apparently what this Ducks team and Leon Draisaitl needed to wake their asses the fck up as from that point on all they did was score 6 unanswered goals with Draisaitl assisting on 3 of them! J. Halak also made 22 straight saves following that third goal so I guess he might as well join the rest of his team in conciousness. Ducks show life and will try and even it up in game 4. Oilers still lead 2-1

Aves      2

Kings    4

The ghosts of playoffs past continue to haunt GM Bryce as for the god knows how many times he has gone into a series a big favorite only to wither away. This series is far from over and this game was anything but a lopsided loss so we can stop with the death march but the bottom line is the heavily favored Aves have a hole to climb out of. GM Rumpy made a solid decision in bringing Elvis back into the building long enough to steal a win before we once again heard "Elvis has left the building" on his way out with 41 saves in hand. Now LA will have the option of using either tender for game 4 while we would assume the Aves will now counter with P. Grubauer in hopes of evening things back up. Much like a couple of other series ongoing now this team from Colorado is doing alot right and deserves a better fate but that one position has been better for LA and has now snatched 2 victories away with a big catching glove. Game 4 upcoming with GM Rumpy riding the hot goalies and Bryce trying to ignite a couple of shooters twigs. LA up 2-1

Hawks    1

Stars     2

There is the old Stars we all know and hate! GM Dave Yee decided to spot start R. Lehner in this one and really you couldn't ask for more from your starter as he stopped 33 of 35 shots against but on this night only perfection would have done. Chicago really had nothing going and trailed basically the entire night before they finally broke through with a goal roughly 5 minutes into the third. Before Chicago even finished celebrating their goal Dallas had scored one of their own on the very next shift to retake the lead.... for good this time! Dallas limited Chicago to just 26 shots for the game and with the stingy defense and goaltending they have 26 shots is most likely not enough on most evenings. After 3 straight games between the pipes will we see a change in Big D for game 4 and which goalie gets the nod for Chicago? Dallas leads 2-1
