Daily Recap

CBJ     5  OT

Sens   4

In a game somebody had to lose it was the Sens that drew the short straw. Coming into this game the series was tied at 1 and it was clear that both teams wanted to take control of this series with a game 3 win. Both GM's put all their eggs into the game 3 basket and rolled the dice as both starters and star regulars saw the ice and lots of it. With this game being a 38-37 shot, hot paced, end to end action, and overtime game to boot we see some fatigued players and 2 starting goalies that will most likely have to take at least 1 game off. I guess thats why they call this a team game because this series may be decided by which team has the better (or less shitty) back-ups! CBJ up 2-1

Canes     4  2OT

Isles      3

So if you watched the 3 games in this series to this point most would likely say that the Isles should be up 2-1. Well, the Isles are up 2-1 so all is right in the universe! If you are an Isles fan however you are looking for a cop because this last game was stolen. GM Cordell hinted after last games disappointment that there would be a few changes for game 3 and after a bit of tinkering it was decided to go with J.Bernier in goal. When asked about the decision the GM had this to say "we want to go out on our shield, with our best line-up on the ice if we are to bow out. We have confidence in both of our goalies and if forced to we would be comfortable using either at any time but Corey is our #1. If we had lost this game with Corey in net he would have been on the shelf for game 4 and thats not going out on your shield! " So how do you follow up a 67 save double overtime win performance? "What do you mean? With Corey is how! Jonathon did his job and now it is Coreys turn to do his. We all have a responsibility on this team, everyone has their own job to do and we expect them to do it exceedingly well" . Whether or not any more thievery takes place in this series remains to be seen but Carolina has a pulse now trailing 2-1

Leafs    4

Caps    5

Larry...Larry....Larry!!!! Fans in Washington rejoice after historic playoff win!!! Maybe the home cooking did it....maybe the crowd....maybe the good vibes around the city?  Doubt it....the recipe appears pretty simple....don't let the Leafs shoot and you may win. The Leafs took the night off expecting to just walk into the building and walk out with another victory but this is the playoffs and taking nights off results in losses. That is the message that clearly needs to be delivered to the talented Leafs as despite scoring 4 goals, only managed a paltry 22 shots on goal for the game. Luckily for GM Linke and his Washington squad that the Leaf tenders also took the night off or despite a very good effort from his own squad they still surrendered 4 goals agaisnt which on most nights spells doom for the offensively challenged Caps. All is well that ends well however and the better team tonight deserved to win and did. Look for a better effort from the Leafs in game 4 with them still up 2-1

Habs    2

Bruins  1

GM Steve and his Habs can breathe a sigh of relief getting themselves off of the scrap heap with a huge "W". After dropping both games at home the Habs headed to Boston with hopes of getting back into this series and if nothing else managed to secure at least another home game with this win. This was a game and start the Habs needed from C.Hart after being outclassed the first 2 games and he rewarded their confidence in him with a 26 save win. The amount of shots faced as a whole wasn't that significant but this game is ALL about C.Hart. After an excellent start by the Habs and a well earned 2-0 need the Habs went to sleep for a bit allowing the Bruins to outshoot them 13-4 in the second period. If Boston could have slipped a goal in at that point we may have had a much different looking third period but Hart stood tall preserving that 2 goal bulge. The third period returned to a more controlled game for the Habs out skating Boston and limiting their opportunities. Boston did finally score to make it a one shot game but Montreal just wouldn't let Boston get anything else going until the final buzzer sounded. Boston still up 2-1
