Daily Recap

Vegas    2

Jets      3

So you are at home, trailing a series 2-1, get outshot badly, and basically run out of your own barn and somehow win??? If the Jets somehow manage to get out of this series then this game is the reason why. With C. Price already excessively overworked the Jets staff was forced into using a very aging H. Lundqvist and hope that he could at least find some type of resemblance of his old self. Instead, the King rose up from the ashes like a Phoenix and took a win in a game they had no right even being in. Vegas put at least 10 shots on goal in every period and outshot their opponent handily by a 37-19 total but could not kick in the door. For the Jets it was disaster averted while Vegas can take some solice in the fact that they did everything they needed to do to win and the hockey gods can only deny then so long if the ice remains this tilted. Brand new series tied at 2

Ducks    0

Oilers    2

McDavid ...McDavid....McDavid!!!! Actually, no....but he did manage to at least garner an assist on this night which believe it or not his first sighting in the series. This game featured alot of back and forth with both teams having their moments and both goalies playing great hockey. What looks to be the biggest difference in the game wasn't decided by the teams but moreso the officials as the hometown Oilers had 6 PP opportunities to the Ducks 0 accounting for the first goal of the game less than 1 minute in. The Ducks were chasing the game all night killing momentum with penalties and simply did not get enough sustained pressure. In a bit of a surprising move J. Halak got the nod in goal and despite playing well was not 100% and will not be 100% now for game 5. The Oilers will be looking to close out the series with Helly at 100% in the crease. Oilers up 3-1

Aves      4

Kings    0

After playing 3 strong games Colorado found themselves in the ugly position of trailing the series 2-1 and playing on the road. The good news for Colorado is that they have 2 legit #1 goalies and 1A took the crease in game 4 looking to steal the net. While Colorado once again controlled the play for the most part and once again outshot their counterparts from LA that recipe has not led to team success. P. Grubauer took this start and was as sharp as he has ever been turning aside all 29 King shots and serving notice that he wants the net. Elvis was back in goal for LA coming off of his stellar performance last game but he fell victum to 2 early PP goals that put his team behind the eight ball early and in a hole they would not get out of. It appears LA will go back to A.Raanta for game 5 while Colorado will have a big decision to make. Colorado breathing easier tied at 2

Hawks     7

Stars      3

1 team got what they wanted and the other didn't !!! No, I am not stating the obvious and saying a win. Chicago is a free-wheeling high octane offence that wants to score in bunches while Dallas likes to limit the offence against and win on special teams. After a 3-2 first period in which 30 combined shots were exchanged it became clear what type of game was being played and it didn't suit Dallas. To say Dallas is not offensively gifted is clearly not the case but their style of play is not built around large comebacks so when Chicago scored their 4th goal to chase starter B.Bishop early in the second it was over! Chicago wasn't done there however as they wanted to exhaust Dallas goalies both physically and mentally heading to game 5 and pumped several more shots and goals past the embattled netminders. Statement win for Chicago and a new series here tied at 2 as well
