Daily Recap

CBJ     2

Sens   4

This game was an expected match-up of the shitty back-ups but Columbus did the unexpected and slipped J. Markstrom back between the pipes. What was even more unexpected was the easy night given to Ottawa back-up P.Rinne who only had to face 24 Jacket shots. Ottawa didn't exactly shoot the the lights out them selves posting only 28 shots but they saved 15 of those shots for the third period when the game was on the line to send the home crowd happy with a victory. Due to Markstrom playing this game at less then 100% he is listed as "questionable" for next game but is more likely "doubtful" as playing him in game 5 will likely result in an "out" designation for game 6! As expected, 2 good teams going at it and at least 6 games to decide it. All tied up at 2

Canes     3

Isles      4

Well turnabout is fair play they say so I guess another loss when you were the better team is fair after the last game thievery! Carolina did everything they needed to in this game to even up the series but score enough which is becoming the common theme against these Isles and all world goalie A. Vasilevskiy. This has been a hard luck series for the Hurricanes C. Crawford who was brought in to win games (which he did very well during the season) but has the daunting task of outperforming Vasilevskiy to do so. Crawford is 0-3 despite playing well to this point but should at least get 1 game away from facing his apparent nemesis in the next one as the Isles netminder was visably fatigued following tonights win and is due a night off. Tonights loss was a bit tougher to swallow however as the Canes jumped out to an early 3-1 lead and despite having an impressive 29-19 edge in shots thru 2 periods were tied at 3 heading to the third. Yet another performance of a goalie keeping his team alive until they find their game and steal away a win. Canes with their backs to the wall down 3-1

Leafs    4

Caps     1

Great game!!! End to end action....shots, hits, even a fight to get the blood flowing. Washington played the Leafs even from whistle to whistle but as has been pointed out numerous times....these teams aren't even! GM Linke has every reason to be happy with his groups progress but if his team is "EVEN" then they are losing....period! Leafs simply too talented for this hard working group from Washington, especially if the hard work crosses the line and leads to PP opportunities against as witnessed this evening. Toronto PP nets 3 and nets the third win in the process... Leafs up 3-1

Habs     5

Bruins   4

Don't let the score fool you....this game was tilted far worse then the previous 7-2 drubbing in the other direction. GM Steve must have found the magical elixer as his team was in trouble heading to Boston trailing 0-2 in the series and not looking good doing it. After taking game 3 the Habs had the opportunity to take home ice back with a win this evening and it was an opportunity they didn't let slip. Montreal put 24 first period shots on goal, at least 12 in each period, and 50 on goal for the game compared to allowing only 27 for the Bruins on home ice. The reason Boston had any chance in this game at all was the heroics of goalie T.Rask making 45 saves but despite his best efforts the Bruins were chasing the game being outplayed in all three periods. Looks like another great series going at least 6....Heading to Montreal even at 2
