The Hockey News Top 100 Prospects

63 players are represented by 25 teams

I thought about doing a prospect rating list when The Athletic came out with their preseason team rankings but without a viable way to research lesser known prospects it became too labor intensive.

While going over the teams prospects lists for this exercise there are some really good players on teams prospects lists who are currently in the NHL and didn't qualify for The Hockey News list.

Every place was assigned a numerical value with the # 1 prospect worth 100 points and the # 100 prospect worth 1. The Calgary Flames (surprise) have the most prospects with 7 with a point value of 333. This is designated next to their name as (7-333). The Philadelphia Flyers are second with 6 prospects but on the strength of two top 6 prospects have a point value of 337. 37 players who are listed in the top 100 prospects were selected in the 2020 NHL draft and are available in our upcoming draft. Even though Vancouver only had two prospects they are 6th in total points.
