Daily Recap

Jets    3

Vegas 2

This is almost embarrassing to say but the Jets are heading home with an opportunity to close out a series win! For whatever reason (maybe good karma) the sim takes a liking to shitty Jets teams come playoff time every year and despite not belonging on the same ice each and every game of this series somehow are up 3-2. Thru 5 games to this point the Jets have been outshot to the tune of 201-116 and have not even been close in any one game. The good news (if you can say that in this series) for Vegas is they will get "the King" in the opposing goal for game 6 now just trying to stave off elimination. Other then the obvious steller play from the goalies a small handful of others have done there part including Willy (don't call me Bill) Nylander who is on a goal/game pace so far. The Jets look for more of the same between the pipes looking for the huge upset up 3-2

Oilers   5

Ducks   2

The Oilers went into Anaheim looking to end this series quickly and managed to do just that. Everyone will look back at this series at year end and say that GM Leon had an easy first round match-up based on the 4-1 final but that couldn't have been further from the truth. Of the 5 games played the largest shot margin was 5 and only 1 of those games was that high! This series was back and forth shift after shift, game after game and when the dust settles one team just got better goaltending. In a bit of a surprise move GM Devon started J.Halak all 5 games despite his ineffectiveness and fell victim to superior Edmonton goaltending throughout. GM Leon can sit back and wait for his round 2 match-up...Oil win 4-1

Kings    4

Aves     2

Another series that simply isn't adding up to the sum of it's parts was contested in Colorado this evening with LA taking a 4-2 decision. Much like the Jets series highlighted earlier the LA Kings are playing a similar game being outclassed regularily yet winning more then losing. The one thing GM Rumpy has going for him is the high end veteran leadership of both Bergeron and Malkin which can only help keep the team calm despite having the game taken to them. Colorado now has the daunting task of going on the road to try and keep this season alive...look for P.Francouz to get the night off (and maybe the year) after a largely ineffective playoffs thus far while GM Rumpy will have a decision to make for his starter as neither will be 100% at puck drop. Kings up 3-2

Stars    5

Hawks  2

The light switch that is Dallas this season is now back to on! The best part about this series is you simply can't have any expectations for what will happen after puck drop. For the 5th game in a row you simply had to wait to see which of these Jeckyl or Hyde teams will show up and tonight it was the 2 time cup champs that looked the part. I'd like to say that Dallas came out, assumed control, then put the patented death choke on the game but tonight it was not at all the case. R.Lehner shit the bed allowing 4 goals on 18 shots effectively taking Chicago out of any game plan they may have had which in turn made for an easy evening for Dallas. Yes Dallas scored, yes Dallas played pretty solid defensively, and yes Dallas did what they needed to win but Chicago didn't quit and actually managed to outshoot Dallas by the time it was said and done. Dallas heading home looking to close out up 3-2
