Daily Recap

Vegas    6

Jets       3

The Jets headed home with an opportunity to close out Vegas despite being badly outplayed to this point. The Jets responded by playing some of their best hockey of the playoffs and got slapped for their trouble! "The King" got the nod over an exhausted C.Price coming off of his stellar last performance but this performance was anything but stellar. After giving up 4 goals on just 19 shots the hook was out and a fatigued Price was back in. That in itself wouldn't neccessarily be that big a deal on its own but in this case it will now be a less then 100% Price that will occupy the twine for game 7. It has become very clear that having been dominated throughout this series that the Jets lone hope to advance is based solely on the shoulders of their goaltending. Can Price and the Jets get one more great performance or will Vegas finally be rewarded for their play? Game 7 in Vegas !

Aves    4

Kings   2

Another series that despite one team being clearly the better team is being forced to a Game 7. The Kings, like the Jets previously, played their best game of the playoffs with the chance to end it on home ice and like the Jets also came up short! This series however has 4 top goalies available so despite 2 goalies being less then 100% both squads can feel confident with either tender maning the crease. Colorado has had the bulk of the play in this series and has home ice for Game 7 and should be considered favorites to advance but the Kings have proven difficult to score against so I am going to say that this series will likely be decided by which team executes on special teams! Off to Colorado....loser leave town!

Hawks    0

Stars     4

Well, the on and off switch in Big D remained "on" for this one. Unlike the previous 2 series Dallas went home with a chance to close the deal and actually did shuting out the visitors from Chicago for good measure. In what has been an all too familiar script in Dallas the past few years, scoring early...nursing the lead....then closing the deal, Dallas once again attained the result they were looking for. This wasn't quite the choke out we are used to seeing in the early going however as Chicago came to play and actually outshot Dallas thru 2 periods but despite that trailed 3-0. The realization that this great season was nearing its conclusion was clearly evident in Chicago's third period play as Dallas just boot stomped them all over the ice outshooting the trailing Hawks by an 18-5 margin to ensure any thoughts of a magical comeback were only in the wishful fans minds. GM Junya and his Stars get over a HUGE early hurdle to move to round 2. Stars win 4-2
