Boston once again limped into a game riding a very hot but also very tired goalie in T.Rask. For Boston to remain relevent in this game it was very apparent they would need to play tight to the vest and limit Montreals opportunities while hopefully doing enough offensively themselves. This was clearly not something Boston was able to do early on as Montreal slapped 17 first period shots on goal leaving a beleagured Rask out to dry. To Rasks credit he once again stood tall turning all 17 shots away once again keeping his team alive. Boston did a much better job containing the Hab offense following that shakey first but they were simply unable to transition their solid defensive play into any offense and when D.Perron slipped his 3rd of the playoffs past an exhausted Rask it was adios amigo. C. Hart had an easy night in the Hab net stopping all 20 of the Boston shots faced for the shutout. A funny side note on that was that GM Steve sent word that Binnington was to be the Game 7 guy but there was a mix-up with the coaching staff and Hart got the nod. Habs move past a determined Boston squad 4-3
