Eastern Semi's
Isles 2
CBJ 1
There is the old A. Vasilevskiy that I loved to hate in round 1! After a dismal Game 1 performance the Isles top goalie returned to his previous form making 40 saves and snatching away a victory that his team probably didn't deserve. This wasn't a horrendous performance from the Isles by any means but Colombus was clearly the better team through 2 periods and had outshot their opponents 41-33 by the time this one ended. J. Markstrom also played well in this one making 31 saves for Colombus but anything short of perfection was not good enough on this night. Heading to New York tied at 1.
Habs 4
Leafs 1
I feel like I should just copy and paste my last recap and post it here with just a couple of name changes. The Leafs came into this game off of a very convincing Game 1 victory and were looking for more of the same. The home side was a tad slow out of the gates in this one however falling behind in the first by a goal but quickly righted the ship to play a better 2nd and 3rd period. The problem was that the Leafs couldn't take advantage of their many opportunities being turned away by C. Hart 32 times. You couple the Leafs inability to score with a somewhat ineffective A. Khudobin (allowed 4 goals on 30 shots) and you see a tilted ice score like this. Habs got what they needed gaining a split and heading home. Series tied at 1
