After losing Game 3 and being forced to play their AHL rated back-up New York was faced with the very real prospect of falling behind 3-1 in the series facing the prolific Colorado offence. Instead C. McElhinney turns aside 32 of 34 shots and the Islander offence did just enough to snatch the win. This was anything but a masterpiece as Colorado was just a bit better early and took a lead to the third but make no mistake this was all C. McElhinney and his ability to allow his team to remain in the game. Colorado didn't get any separation all game and when P. Kane scored roughly half way thru the third to tie it New York gained some confidence that went straight to their legs. P. Kane grabbed his second of the frame with less then 5 minutes remaining to take the only need of the game the Isles would need as they held on for the unlikely win! If the Isles do wind up winning this series then this game will stand out as a huge reason why. Heading back to Colorado with the series now a best of 3....all tied up at 2
