2022 BRHL 1st Round Mock Draft

BRHL MOCK DRAFT

Based on current standings (win %)

1- Tampa.  Don’t see Eric getting cute here.  With Power being number 1 on everyone’s list forever.  Lock the selection in.

2- Arizona.  Joel has mentioned Mctavish, Beniers, and Johnson.  So seems to have a few players in mind.  If his AGM is adamant on Beniers, expect Joel to oblige.

3- Buffalo.  After taking Drysdale last season, Jared selects a forward this go around.  Goes BPA and nabs Mason McTavish.

4- Winnipeg.  Things start to get interesting here at 4.  With an array of solid D men available, Doc snags Simon Edvinsson putting his trust in Yzerman and company.

5- Pittsburgh.  One thing I’ve learned about Toby from sim and fantasy leagues is he avoids D men.  Here he goes Cole Sillinger as his two way game is too hard for him to resist.

6- Detroit.  Well I could use a goalie.  Badly.  Cossa would be cool because he’s a Red Wing, but Wallstedt is the better choice.

7- Seattle.  Can’t see Rex taking a D man even though a few studs are still available.  Despite being a pass-first guy, Rex listens to Craig Button and goes Kent Johnson.

8- Rangers.  PJ is a tricky guy to read, but he steps up to the podium and takes William Eklund here.

9- Ottawa.  The pure talent and upside of Brandt Clarke doesn’t go unnoticed by Steph and he snags him here at ninth.

10- Vancouver.  A few different ways Rob could go here, but it’s too early to gamble and he selects Dylan Guenther to round out the top 10.

11- Florida.  Tyler goes Rangers prospect Brennan Othman here.  His stock his risen and is a somewhat safe pick.

12- Nashville.  No one really knows what goes into Sheds’ selections, but he likes defensive forwards.  With Eklund gone, he targets the unspectacular, but solid all-round Matt Coronato

13- New Jersey.  Ken appropriately selects a New Jersey Devil here and takes Quinn and Jack’s baby brother, Luke, at 13.

14- Toronto. Garret, in search of a tendy ends up with the perfect fit here with Sebastian Cossa landing in his lap.

15- Seattle (From Los Angeles). Rex surprises here and doesn’t reach on Xavier Borgeault.  Wyatt Johnson whose draft stock has jumped up the past year is the selection.

16- Pittsburgh (From Columbus).  Perhaps the largest jump in one’s draft stock comes out of Carolina, and Toby doesn’t sleep on him and snags Scott Morrow here.

17- Florida (From Colorado).  Well he’s more NHL ready, and more defensive than most, so Tyler takes Oscar Olausson at this slot.

18- Calgary (From Montreal).  What will Kevin do here?  There are plenty of good choices. Fabian Lysell is likely the top gun left at this spot.

19- Vegas.  Joe finally moves Forsberg and immediately drafts another Preds LWer to replace him.  The physical Zachary L’Hereux.

20- Vegas (From Minny). Carson Lambos.  Who doesn’t love a physical D-man.  Joe could do worse here.  Great spot to land Lambos.

21- Vegas (From Philadelphia).  The skill level of Isak Rosen is next level and Joe won’t let this gift slip on by at 21.

22- Edmonton.  Leon grabs his Cale Makar replacement and nabs the slight Olen Zellweger here.  I kid, but the kid has all world skill.

23- Edmonton (From Carolina).  The biggest slider of the first round lands in Edmonton as Tyler Boucher and his pure grit makes his way to central Alberta.

24- Vegas (From Islanders).  Joe goes with a solid offensive guy here.  May as well, it’s still first round as he selects Xavier Bourgault.

25- St Louis.  Eric is thrilled Chaz Lucius and his howitzer of a shot are still here at 25 and pounces accordingly.

26- Calgary (From Washington).  Why not reach late into the 2nd a take a Leafs prospect? He’s good and Leafs fans often pay a premium.  So Matt Knies it is for Mr Switzer.

27- Tampa (From San Jose).  Mackie Samsokevich. Skill and speed to burn.   Has the highest upside of anyone still on the board.

28- Calgary.  One of the few prospects available who have gotten plenty of time in the big league, JJ Moser doesn’t slip any further.

29- Ottawa (From Chicago). Zach Bolduc. Another prospect with a killer shot.  Steph won’t mind him coming to the Nation’s Capital.

30- Ottawa (From Boston).  Corson Ceulmans has that beautiful blend of physicality and a pro league shot.  He won’t slide to round 2.

31- Vegas (From Anaheim).  The pure GRIT of western Canadian Nolan Allen doesn’t slip past Joe as he dedicates this pick to Devon, the original owner.  A perfect, sure fire NHLer to help with the retool.

32- Vancouver (From Dallas).  At this point in the draft you’re looking for highest offensive upside.  Ville Koivunen is still hanging around so Rob strikes.

Matt Coronato is such a Sheds pick
