Daily Recap
West tightening up
Ducks 3
Oilers 1
With the Ducks trailing in this series 2-0 and on the road it was "now or never" time to get back into the series. J.Oettinger once again got the start despite being outperformed by his counterpart in the first 2 games and was able to turn the script and get his first win of these playoffs. It isn't all good news for the Ducks however as Oettinger appears to be far less than 100% heading to Game 4 and will likely have to take the night off making way for a less then spectacular J.Gibson to make his playoff debut. This win should get the Ducks some confidence back and buy some rest time for Oettinger to be ready for Games 5, 6 and 7 if required. Meanwhile the Oilers gave A. Forsberg his first taste of the playoffs and despite a very solid effort (stopped 29 of 32) he took the loss. GM Leon has to feel comfortable now having a fresh C. Hellybuyck for the next 2 to try and close out the series. Like all of the Western Conference series this series just got a lot tighter....Oil still up 2-1
Flames 4 (2 OT)
Sharks 3
It isn't every day that you can say that a team that had 47 shots on goal got domintated but today is one of those days! With the series tied at 1 coming into tonights game it was expected to be a competetive tilt but don't think anyone expected 124 combined shots and double overtime to declare a winner. The Sim got it right however as on the Flames 77th shot of the night they were finally able to come away with a very deserved victory! With this victory also came some other potential spoils for the Flames as P.Grubauer will not be 100% for his next start and may be forced to the bench. Flames take home ice back now leading 2-1
Stars 3 (OT)
Wild 2
In the second overtime game of the evening the host Wild gave the heavily favored Stars all they could handle for 40 minutes but there simply isn't enough horses in the barn to keep up with those Dallas studs. Despite this game needing overtime it was Dallas that controlled the entire 3 period and overtime domintaing those 2 frames to the tune of a 24-7 shot advantage before S. Couturier finally ended the onslaught with a PP goal. To make matters worse for Big AL it looks like Game 1 hero S.Varlamov will be lost for at least 1 game due to exhaustion so an already uphill battle looks to becoming a mountain of a climb! Dallas predictably now up in the series at 2-1
Hawks 5
Blues 3
The final game of the evening featured a second team desperate for a win to get some life in the series. Chicago dropped both games at home and looked pretty shitty doing it so GM Yee was hoping some bonding time on the road while getting away from homelife distractions would help his team out. Apparently the food on the road was pretty good as Chicago was finally able to generate some good offense and able to rest R.Lehner as well leading to a much needed shot of confidence. T. Jarry got his third straight start for St. Louis despite being less than 100% and will likely need to ride the pine next game adding further fuel to the comback fires burning in the Chicago dressing room. With Lehner expected to get the nod next game for Chicago and Jarry out we could be looking at a best of 3 to decide this one....let's not get too far ahead of ourselves though as St.Louis is still in control up 2-1
