West Continues
Ducks 4
Oilers 5
Where do we start with this one? After getting a much needed win and a rest day added GM Devon decided to roll the dice with a less than 100% Oettinger between the pipes trying to even up this very difficult first round series. The move appeared to be a good one as the Ducks came out determined to head home with another win jumping out to a 4-1 lead while chasing a stunned C. Hellybuyck from the net. With the Duck onslaught continuing to pepper the Oiler net it was a clear and decisive win right? Not so fast said back-up A. Forsberg as he stopped all 22 shots he faced giving the homeside at least a chance to comeback. Four unanswered goals later with 2 on only 2 Power-play attempts in the period was the gas these Oilers were looking for enroute to a very unexpected comeback win. GM Devon rolling the dice on Oettinger in this game likely cost him and his first place Ducks the season as Oettinger won't be close to 100% for game 5 meaning the underwhelming J.Gibson will likely have to be in goal. Ducks head back home trying to stay alive trailing 3-1
Flames 5
Sharks 3
See above^^^ ...Much like the Ducks in the previous series these Sharks came into the contest needing a win to even up the series and much the same took a comfortable lead to the third only to allow 4 unanswered goals in the frame to take the loss. P. Grubauer gave up a very uncharacteristic 5 goals against and will not be 100% for Game 5. With the game shifting back to Calgary could this be it for the brash SJ GM? Time will tell but Calgary gets 3 cracks to take these Sharks out with 2 of those opportunities at home. Calgary in control up 3-1
Stars 2
Wild 3
This is yet another WTF game on tonights schedule as Minny somehow gets even with the powerhouse Stars. With Dallas being in complete control of the series despite only leading 2-1 and forcing GM Al into using his back-up tender in Andrew Shortridge(Who???) it was going to be a easy road to victory and a 3-1 lead. Not so fast again!!! Dallas played a lacklustre game clearly expecting to just show up and win and got burned for it. Managing a paltry 29 shots for the game, Dallas to their credit were still the better team on the night but allowing a low scoring defensive struggle only kept the Wild in it. The team and fans of Minny say "thank you" and see you in Big D for game 5. Series surprisingly tied at 2
Hawks 3
Blues 2
The last and final WTF game of the day took place in St. Louis where the once completely in control Blues lost their second straight at home. While the Blackhawks had home ice and it was expected to be a close series St.Louis jumped out to a 2-0 series lead and looked great doing it so even a split at home was expected to provide a 3-1 lead. Instead we have back to back road wins from Chicagos back-up tender in C. Desmith....back to back losses from a very strong T. Jarry....a suddenly inept St. Louis offense and last but certainly not least we have a very tired T.Jarry likely heading to the bench adding further fuel to the Chicago run. In a series that looked over before it really started we are back to a best of three tied at 2
