Daily Recap

East

Caps      4

Flyers     5

The Flyers and C. Driedger are like the turds that won't flush and if Washington doesn't do it next time there won't be a next time! Philly once again staved off elimination with a back and forth hard fought victory and once again the home team won. This has truly been a series of home ice and as GM Linke said "your not in trouble until you lose at home" and up till this point he has been correct. The problem now is there is only 1 game left to play and it is loser go home so now clearly isn't the time to lose that home ice! As indicated by the score there were no shortage of scoring chances in this one with a combined shot total of 83 but surprisingly both goalies played well stopping 37 shots each and could not be held accountable for a loss. The Caps have never trailed in this series and hope to continue that trend on home ice for Game 7

Canes    1

Isles      3

The once reeling Isles have battled back from a 3-1 deficit to even things up and send this series to Game 7. A. Vasilevskiy had been shelled earlier in the series and looked to be heading to the bench for a day off but some last minute scheduling changes afforded him an extra rest day and he will not be forced to miss any time between the pipes. This doesn't bode well for Carolina as he has been the achilles heel for them the past couple of seasons and getting past these Isles will not be an easy feat. The good news for Carolina is they are at least at home and C.Talbot has been solid between the pipes as well so a good game is expected. Like the above mentioned series Carolina has never trailed in this series so Game 7 is not the time to start!

Bruins     5

CBJ         3

The Bruins ended Columbus' season on this evening sending the Jackets to the golf course which was expected wasn't it? I mean the Bruins were the top seed in the East so it only made sense that they would have the easier path in the playoffs wouldn't it? This was anything but the case as Boston was on the wrong side of the stat sheet most nights and REALLY on the the wrong side a few as well yet somehow managed a 4-2 series win. Tonights game wasn't a terrible game by Boston by any means but despite being on the road and outplayed in a couple of periods they found a way to get a clutch goal before salting the game away with an empty netter. Good teams do that I guess. Tough luck for GM Jesse but GM Greg and his Bruins join the Habs in round 2
